Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Philadelphia 76ers
I don't see the doom and gloom. Embiid is still in his prime, Maxey will get better, Thybulle will get better, Harden will get into shape (hopefully) and Harris can be used in a trade to fill in any holes they have throughout their roster. Hell, I think you could even move Thybulle for a bench player who looks to score a bit more bc as good of a defender he is, he's a liability on offence.
They have a star in his prime, a second star in Harden who should be ready to go next year, and Maxey who's already seen a massive improvement this year, let alone the next, with some additional solid pieces that they can keep or move depending on the situation.
If Philly is in trouble, I think more than half the league is approaching cataclysm.

Treadmill team. They probably would have lost to Raptors in 1st round if Nurse had not screwed up the rotations and Barnes was healthy

Definitely treadmill, with an overpaid and underperforming roster, and few avenues for improvement if they keep the main pieces in place (including coach and GM).
If they re-sign Harden to anything north of $25 mil and/or 3 years in length, may as well change the name on the baselines to Treadmilladelphia.
What a mess of a roster and organization. I'd feel bad for their fans, but they're some of the thinnest skinned hypocritical whiners on the internet, so yeah... I hope the max Harden for 5 years and freeze themselves in no man's land while ascending teams like the Celtics, Cavs and Raptors pass them by.

I'm waiting on Harden to see if he comes to camp in the best shape of his career and look at the new season as redemption for him before I start assessing their future.

Send Harden to some Gary V or Tony Robbins seminars this offseason.

Besides you guys may have better trades than that
It also seems to me that doc is not good enough and only will let you down again, his past was his prime and he just looks like an intelligent sell out
Umm nobody is trading Joel for Bam. It’s asinine to even suggest.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Philadelphia 76ers
My 2 cents:
Embiid needs to stays healthy the whole season, including the playoffs
Harden needs to come into next season in-shape and motivated
Maxey continues his improvement
They get rid of Doc Rivers
Try and trade Tobias Harris
Not sure what to make of Thybulle, thought he would be a difference maker in the playoffs

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Philadelphia 76ers
Embiid just needs to be healthy. He’s proven to be injuried. Be it cursed or whatever he’s always got some injury or sickness in these playoffs. You need it to all come together where he’s healthy and the right team around him so you can finally make the push. Because you don’t know how many opportunities you’ll have with him.

Keep Morey - it's his bed that he made, but keep him on a short leash if he makes future-stunting trades.
Fire Doc - it's just not working out.
Worse than expectations - they came into the season with Championship aspirations, and didn't get past the first round
Treadmill team - capped out, not much room to improve.

Treadmill Team.
Paying Harden $47 million next year when he exercises his player option is tough.
Given that it would be a contract year for Harden, you might just see a little bit of a resurgence from him in 22/23 as he looks to secure the bag one last time. Don't be fooled though, even if 22/23 is an up year for Harden, it's all downhill from there.
My gut tells me that Harden plays in Philly next year and signs elsewhere as a free agent in 2023.
How they handle the Harden situation will dictate their next few years.
That player option isn't tough its the massive contract he's gona get. Morey isn't letting Harden go anywhere, dude waited 8 months to trade for him. Should've taken that Kings deal for Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Heild and picks for Simmons. He wanted Harden the whole time, and now he's going to sign him to another contract.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Philadelphia 76ers
They got out from under Simmons, but putting all their eggs in the Harden basket is rough. I am not a believer that he can return to prominence for more than one out of every three or four games. Doc's coming back too. His defensiveness about his coaching performance isn't a good sign. His continued playoff losses with talent isn't a good sign. His throwing players under the bus after getting beat habit isn't a good sign. Is this really the guy you want leading your team? Imagine if they had an Udoka.
If I were the front office, I'd let Harden hit free agency if he doesn't take the player option. I think there are younger cheaper players who will give you more on the court and less drama too. I know some think they need to resign him because of Embiid's window. I think resigning him just nails Embiid's window shut. However, he's likely going to resign. In that case, sure, do one more year of the Doc & Harden show and then shed both.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

As a heat fan I wouldn't make that trade. Rather keep the 24 year old all defensive all star level center who is still improving and doesn't get hurt nearly as oftenWolfgang630 wrote:al bondiga wrote:I would throw out there bam straight up for Joel, but Joel seems a bit of a cancer for a team, he thinks he's the second coming of Shaquille O'Neal... so I don't know

Offer Harden a lowball 120/4 or he will play for player option.
Trade Harris for 2/3 competent players, 1 starter 1/2 role players.

Well Sixers just announced they will re-sign Harden multiyear and Doc is back..Embid must be thrilled..what could go wrong:)??
LOL
Man, Sixers on their way to ruin best Embid will ffer them through his career.
Harden will play hard and good dirst few months after he options in..use that and trade him for a pick or two and promising player..then do the same with Harris..and you have Embid Maxie and 2-3good and younger players in return..
This..will be second round exit at best yet again..but I have my popcorn ready:)
This is good news for East.

Re: Post-Mortem: 2021-22 Philadelphia 76ers
I’m higher on the Sixers going forward than most. I think if before the season you told people Ben would refuse to play the whole year, a fourth seed with an MVP campaign by Embiid would exceed their expectations. And 4 seeds lose to 1 seeds all the time, so losing to Miami is no big deal.
Simmons’ has very low value, and it might actually have been negative in retrospect. Maybe they can be glad they dumped his contract, though it’s overall a bad trade. If I’m a Phili fan I’m hoping Harden can be motivated and cheap going forward, and Maxi continues to grow into a real #2 with Harden as an elite glue guy.
But yeah I’d fire Doc. My guess is management is cheap.

If you really think raptors would have won if both team healthy. U need to look at the games closely especially first game when barnes was healthy for the first 2.5 quarters. They weren’t winning that game. They wouldn’t have won game 2 either
