I liked it. Way more than last year’s Chelsea vs City

Yeah, it was a good final.

Most finals are dull, but this match saw quite a few chances.

The goal was simple but beautiful too.

I couldn't help but feel there were so many chances by Liverpool ruined by wretched decisions. Admittedly I've been playing soccer since 6 years old but don't watch often so perhaps my expectations are affecting my feelings on the match.

Wretched decisions by whom?

Liverpool hit the post once, and were otherwise stopped by a great goalkeeper. A matter of centimeters. They did lack incisiveness overall as Real defended with a low line. Real hit them on the counter with space and that made the difference. Modric's play in midfield on that goal was brilliant, and so was Vini's run. Their quality shone through, and that was enough. Real arguably had the 3 best player on the pitch, and 2 of them were involved in the goal.

Casemiro somehow not getting booked despite his persistent fouling is also a guarantee.

Yeah, this went pretty much exactly how I thought it would.

That club in Madrid must have some kind of deal with the devil where they can play the ugliest antifootball imaginable and be the worse side overall, yet still basically always walk away victorious in the CL (that's what it feels like, at least).

Madrid was outplayed in the first-half, but that disallowed goal seemed to have waken them up. They played their game in the second-half and waited for their opportunity. They just need a few chances to put it in the back of the net, they’re not wasteful. Great defending and the best goalkeeping performance I think I’ve ever seen carried them in the end.

The Kroos-Casemiro-Modric midfield has to be considered the best ever at this point, and Benzema in the conversation for the most complete striker ever (Cristiano is a striker/winger hybrid and isn’t as good of a playmaker). What a legacy this core has built.

Congrats to Liverpool too, they had a few great chances and it was a well fought final.

Better then Iniesta and Xavi?

Xavi-Busquets-Iniesta is the main competition but 4 CL > 3. The Barca trio have more La Ligas (5>3), but the CL is more prestigious and the Madrid trio was the first to repeat as CL champs and they three-peated! That’s the difference for me. As a bonus, Modric is the only one with a Ballon D’or.

Maybe the greatest CL run ever. PSG,Chelsea, city, and Liverpool. Talk about a gauntlet.

Some more of Rudy. Look at him next to Hazard, who is 5'9. Now 5'9 is a short man, but not THAT short, reminder how tall some of these basketball players are.

Thibaut Courtois is pretty tall tho, but is it me or does he look like Tig Notaro in this pic haha?

Real Madrid won the CL without being better than their opponent in any knock out stage. Football is a sport that allows such things to happen. That's a reason i cringe when i read comparisons between footballers and Nba players or between soccer teams and Nba ones. Just two completely different sports.

And that's why football is the most exciting sport.

It's a matter of taste. For me its not exciting sport. But for sure due to its rules its by far the most unpredictable.
