Peak Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were no where close to winning a ring.
This argument makes no sense, they literally won a ring at age 30 and 32, respectively.

...they won together and they couldn't get close on their own is my point.

Not only that, they weren't even nowhere close to being the best player on the team due to the prescence of KG.

Pierce won Finals MVP, what are you talking about? He was the regular season and Finals leading scorer for the team.

Ray went to the ECF in 2001 (7 game series) and Paul went to the ECF in 2002 (6 game series)... Seems pretty close, to me.

The 90s Bulls would have been better if they had Butler instead of Pippen. Butler is more reliable in big playoff games.

KG is a top 15 player and anchored that defense. Pierce winning FMVP really doesn't mean anything to me.

Andre Igoudala won Finals MVP and he wasn't even the best player in the series.

Jimmy Butler went to the Finals as the guy, put the team on his back and stole 2 games from the Lakers.

I put that over Paul Pierce and Ray Allen who didn't really do anything until they teamed up.

Lol like nothing anybody can tell me that those two guys are in a different stratosphere than Jimmy Butler when it's obvious that they are not.

They weren't even top 10 players in their prime.

That's about where I'm at with it. It gets difficult trying to sort through that massive list and history of players. We know he's not top 75, so trying to go from there is still tough.

With these all time lists, it comes down to accolades and Jimmy just doesn't have a lot at any level of basketball.

He won a gold in 2016 but wasn't a big part of it. As a senior in college his team went to the sweet 16. In the NBA he has a couple accolades here and there but never won a ring.

Top 150 sounds about right to me.

Are we sure he's not top 75? Are we sure that Bill Sharman, Dame, Dave Bing, Dave DeBusschere, Billy Cunningham, Anthony Davis, Dolph Shayes, Carmelo Anthony, Westbrook, Rodman, Paul Arzin, Lenny Wilkens, Hal Greer, Robert Parish, and Ray Allen should be ranked ahead of him?

How many of those guys led their team to the Finals as the best player on their team?

Even if he loses today, he still led the Heat to the Finals and won 2 games against the Lakers.

Probably not top 15 but he's up there, was a great defender.

To the bold, who cares, that was a 21 game stretch in his entire basketball career. Jimmy Butler has as many NBA titles as I do, he's not cracking top 100 all time until that changes.

You act like Butler has played with scrubs his entire career... This guy played with Rose, Boozer, Noah, Deng, Taj, RIP Hamilton, Korver, Pau, Rondo, Wade, Crawford, KAT, Wiggins, Embiid, JJ, Ben Simmons, Bam, and Lowry.

I think Jimmy is underrated. He's never played on a stacked roster, he always gives it his all. No BS, no drama. Plays both ends of the floor equally hard and never makes excuses. Battles through injury and has that killer mentality.

That being said it's pretty hard to rank him all-time, but he is definitely better than some of the names in the TOP 100 list.

Jimmy tells it how it is and has always been in the upper echelon at the defensive end which casual fans tend to ignore and under appreciate. Great player and a straight up baller.

You're saying 2 contradictory things here.

Paul was on the NBA 75 list, ESPN ranked him at 62.

I agree Jimmy is probably in the 150 range but the two can't be on the same tier if one is 62 and the other is 162.

They overrated Pierce

Jimmy doesn't bring it every game like Kobe, Magic, and Bird did. Those three are far superior talents. Jimmy does show up in the moments that count the most and that's the postseason. Let's see if he can close out game seven and lead Miami to victory.

Agreed.

Jimmy is more so in the Paul Pierce/Reggie Miller/Ray Allen tier.

So a washed up Wade, Rondo, Lowry is talent?

A pre-GSW Wiggins?

Ben Simmons and Embiid for half season?

Lol what ?

Lol Ray Allen and Paul Pierce had a team up with an All-Time great to win one ring.

You just keep proving my point.

Without KG, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce would be ringless All-Star caliber players, that give you zero chance of winning a ring unlike Jimmy Butler who actually gotten to the Finals.

You need an all time great player to win a ring, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are bottom 100 NBA players of all time, it doesn't matter if they won a ring. They ain't even get to the Finals once as the best player, Allen Iverson at least did that. Jimmy Butler at least did that. Charles Barkley at least did that. Reggie Miller at least did that.

Lol really wanna say Karl Anthony Towns is the equivalent of playing with an MVP/DPOY caliber player, one of the best NBA players of all time?

Do NBA fans really expect teams without a top 10 of all time caliber player win a ring? If you don't have a MVP caliber player on your team, your odds of winning a ring is basically zero.

That's what makes Jimmy Butler impressive. He isn't a top 10 player of all time. He is barely a current top 15 player. Yet his team is in the hunt.

You give Jimmy Butler an MVP caliber player and he'll be in the Finals every year. He is coachable, works hard, does whatever his team needs to win.

.

James Butler played with MVP Rose and DPOY Noah for the first 5 years of his career, Rose for 6 of his first 7 years in the NBA...

A top 15 player in the league. A top 100 player all time.

I think Jimmy has clearly peaked higher than these guys, and his prime has also been better. His BPM, net rating and his playmaking ability and defense have just made him more impactful. He’s just finished off a truly elite playoff run that’s up there with MJ and LeBron. He made every team he went to significantly better. Matched LeBron in a final.

Jimmy’s been a top 10 player since 2016, and in my opinion he’s a more valuable guy in a vacuum than all but like 6 players.

So top 3 in Heat history and top 10 all time in NBA history? That math checks out
