Hahaha, insta worst contract in the league. I kinda feel badly for Portland fans tho. Their recent signings and the KD rumors probably gave them brief hope of contending... only for Dame to dash those hopes with this contract. I can't see other stars signing up to play along with him now... cos whatever they do to help Portland win, Dame will get all the credit while also earning double their dollars, lol. :P

It must not be that crazy or they wouldn't be doing it. Their team profit to salary ratio must be insane

hes on bunch commericals but there was no need re-sign him. he had 3 years left

It's a dumb decision by Portland and insulting that he even asked for it (coming off his worst season in years).

You see teams give stars 5y contracts when they're already in their early thirties because that's the price they have to pay to get them.

But here? They already had him locked up until the end of his prime.

Makes no sense...

This is your supermax dollars at work. Be glad he stayed if you’re a small market team.

I don’t blame Lillard. As for people who think he should take a paycut, how much less should he take and what specifically does Portland do with those savings to make a contender around him? Blazers are poised to be over the cap those years even if he took say $20M less per season. So his options as far as contacts while staying in Portland really were $60M per year with a mediocre roster, $40M per year with probably the same mediocre roster, or an absolutely looney paycut to stay below the cap to hope Portland can trade for a star which is still a long shot. Taking the max is the only reasonable option there.

some love dame and some rather have him traded. seems to be 50/50

I'm honestly fine with it... if he falls off it will likely coincide with a rebuild anyways.

In 5 years the salary cap is probably gonna be like $160M-$170M anyways.

Supermax contracts are working a designed to keep players in smaller market teams like Lillard and Beal. However leaves less money to build a competitive team.

Yeah this supermax thing is rather harming the teams actually.

Is this shoving back against a star?

It seems more like: “Let’s give him everything he wants so he doesn’t do us like KD.”

Of course the teams would want everyone to be free and any amount spent is more than they would like to spend. But the franchises have been making hundreds of millions off of these guys each season and the players salaries are finally inching closer to what they’re worth.

I can see that everyone is over the loyalty schtick he has. It's obnoxious and self serving. His game is not going to age well.

Portland is running the team as a business first. Dame easily brings the Blazers more revenue than his contract pays him. Remove him as a marketable asset and PDX would see a plummet in revenue.

I hate this though.

I am not saying that Dame is a bad player but the guy is just overrated; he is not a superstar. He really should be a second option on a good team. The fact he made top 75 team I will never understand. I just don't get it.

Lillard, Nurkic, and Simons will be making $106 million combined in '25-'26. Can't wait to hear Dame complain that the Blazers don't surround him with enough talent.

He's not worth that and this hurts the Blazers to acquire talent around him. Shame for Blazer fans.

Agree, F the blazers for choosing to pay talent, they should just ship he's ass and rebuild for 6 years.
