He is 1000% BSing to use us as leverage to get more money from the dubs. Dramymond is well past his prime and doesn't fit with our timeline.

His only reliable skill at this point is passing to open jump shooters. He was getting torched on defense in the playoffs and bullied on the boards. And we already know he's a complete offensive liability.
Love Draygod, but will happily move him for pretty much anything, especially if he wants a max contract.

Ooooo, but you’ll miss him BAD once Wiseman is playing those minutes.

Well past his prime is not true, but that’s fine if you see it that way, when it was announced that he wanted a bigger pay day this was the first team that popped Into my head, he would do a lot of good here with the young guys, you won’t be competing for next 2 years unless Cade and Bey make a significant jump which I wouldn’t be surprised with, though you can do a lot worse then green.

Draymond with Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham + young players?
Probably the best situation he could be in , outside of Golden State.

I think Draymond could be good for the Pistons TBH, especially as a hometown vet. He could help the Pistons utes like Iggy helped the GSW utes, providing playoff experience and savvy. And if Dray can teach Bagley to play-make and defend like Dray does, that would be invaluable to the Pistons.
Cade/Hayes
Ivey/Burks?
Bey/Livers
Draymond/Stewart
Bagley/Duren
Livers is also from MI, Kalamazooooo.
Alec Burks could be their other vet.
And they should get another lottery selection this season.
Detroooiiit basketballlll could be a thing again.

Man these GSW fans are going to regret casting him off.
If he does leave their window slams shut.
He's their number one impact player in the playoffs over the past 8 years.

His productivity, impact, and shooting percentages are all down since ~2014-2018. 2015-2016 playoffs he put up 15/10/6/2/2 with 41% from deep. 8/7/6 this year with 21% from deep. He has fallen off pretty hard. He's still one of their top few players but he has declined.
Draymond will not look good on a bad team. He needs talent around him to thrive.

I just hope some our youth take big steps this year to make signing a expensive older vet move the needle.
He was even mentioning coming here as a 2nd alternative back when he signed his last contract as well if i remember correctly.
As a Piston fan, how much would you offer him? 3 yr? 4 yr?
First and foremost this is just speculation with an agent leaking something to try and draw attention:
I would prefer something like 3 years ~$70-75 million. I doubt we’re in contention though.
Thanks. I just want to confirm that most teams won’t offer him in the ballpark of $140M/4, even the Pistons, which he is leveraging of to get $140M/4 from the Warriors.
At $70-75/3 the Warriors will pay it, especially if he threatens to leave and Steph wants him to stay (potentially at the expense of losing other players)
The Warriors already has a $28M PO for him 23-24. It’s just a $50M/2 extension to match a $75M/3 offer.
I’m not saying he is even worth that much. But the Warriors shouldn’t bid against themselves and pay him what he can’t get in an open market, especially considering that he will have made $200M+ from the Warriors by the time he retires.

Assuming Steph shows that he still has it next year and Draymond shows that he still has something left, the Warriors will likely re-sign Dray. They'll want to maximize the rest of Curry's prime. He's obviously not the perfect player, but he does a lot of things people still overlook. The Warriors didn't look good in that stretch of the regular season when he was out.
Due to lux tax issues, Wiggins is most likely the odd man out. The guy absolutely deserves the praise he's been getting for his playoff performance, but for all intents and purposes, right now you'd essentially be paying him for a good 2 month stretch (the playoffs, particularly the last 2 series). You wouldn't be paying the guy for his regular season, which really wasn't all that much better than his previous regular seasons. We should give credit to the guy for showing up, but also realize that it finally happened when literally everything was made to be in his favor.

People are conveniently forgetting what the Warriors looked like when Draymond was their best player on the court. It was... not good.

Was it also good when Draymond was out injured?
I'm seeing that he missed 36 games last season, GSW won 19 and lost 17 (52.7% wins).
Of the remaining 46 games, GSW won 34 and lost 12 (73.9% wins).

Declined somewhat I can accept, also Detroit has quite a lot of talent, even if you sign him for 3 years, you get two out of him then use him as an expiring contract would do good for the pistons. They are a bad team now but they could also win 30 to 40 games if things align.

Was klay not playing aswell? I don’t agree that he only played a certain amount of games that season, His view was why should I use my energy on a squad that isn’t going no where reason why they got the 2nd pick.
You obviously need better talent around players so they can play better.

In addition to his decline, He only plays 50 games at below 30 min nowadays.
I’d say he plays 45-50 games at 25 min max for the 3 seasons starting 2023.
For teams that are top 4 in their conference, without much help from Draymond in the regular season, he might be able to make a 2nd round team become a true champ contender.
For any other team, you will regret paying him more than MLE.

I disagree, The team would get a lot out of draymond of course not huge stats but he would help that team a ton with everything esle. You don’t win 4 titles as being a very vital piece without being intelligent. He would never sign for the mle, unless he was promised to get down the line like what the heat are doing for haslem all these years.

Re: [REPORT]: Draymond & Detroit Have Mutual Interest Should He Leave GSW
I wouldn't mind if he came way, way under what he wants. Don't get me wrong, he would be great for the young guys on the team, but the contract he wants would not fit. Period.
He wants to come to Detroit, it's all day discount city.
If Weaver does sign him to some idiotic contract, it'll be the first real black mark on his resume with the Pistons, and I'll be just a little peeved.

I don't think Draymond is the guy that is going to come in and play 110% and rally the troops on a rebuilding team. If he bought all in, he's the guy you want doing it though, especially given that franchise's history and identity, and his ties to the state.
The situation in GS was different, everyone knew that was a regroup/recover year. Not to suggest money isn't a factor but representing Michigan is very important to Draymond and I don't think he'd go there with the intent of embarrassing himself in money grab sort of way. I've certainly been wrong before, but I think we'd see a different version of him in that regard.
To that point, Draymond has played on non-contending teams before. As a rookie and sophomore-year player who wasn't established in the league, he turned himself into a necessary contributor and stepped his game up in the playoffs.
Draymond didn't just play on a non-contending team in 2019-20, he played on one of the worst teams in the league with a roster that only had -- throughout the course of the season -- Russell, Wiggins, Curry, Burks, and Poole as the only players on the roster who are still rotation players in the NBA.

He won’t do it for the place he played his entire career, won multiple rings with, in a beautiful city year round that is STILL a championship calibre team but says the hell with all that, I wanna take less money to play in Detroit lol really?! Come on believing that’s comically bad.
Now if you pay him, well he can help the city to try & rise up again….
