I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't keep Westbrook at this point... Aside from there being nothing but trash to be had in return, being robbed of seeing how disgruntled Westbrook, LeBron, AD and Pat Bev (d)evolve on the court, would be tragic.

Has the makings of a dumpster fire the likes of last season, but maybe Ham can make it all work

Thank you for your generosity, but you're not going to take two firsts for taking on an expiring contract and sending nothing back.
LMAO...McDermott and J-Rich would instantly be like the 4th and 5th best players on your dumpster fire roster
That "expiring" contract is also the 2nd highest salary in the NBA next year
McDermott is an abject bad player. Like he rated about as bad as THT last year, except he's not 21. Richardson is a neutral to below average player at a position the Lakers have a logjam at. The only real good player you have that doesn't fit a long-term rebuild is Poetl.
I understand maybe taking a first for absorbing a little less than half of Westbrook's salary for next year (the delta between your outgoing contracts and Westbrook), but no one in the NBA is paying a first for Richardson and McBuckets. Get real, friend

It's funny. When I first heard about the Beverly trade I had a strong urge to write in jest how the Lakers had finally given up on trading Westbrook and were now changing tactics to create as hostile an environment as possible for him; so that he would eventually want to leave on his own volition.
I decided not to poke the bear of Laker fandom but now at least it appears that maybe I was more on target than I thought.
And yes. Witnessing the dumpster fire of disfunctionality as Pat Bev and Westbrook try and decide whether to pass each other the basketball would have been EPIC.
The first games with them on the court (even in preseason) would have been a popcorn-worthy event. Too bad there isn't a feed in their practices. It's the closest thing I can think of to the engineered disasters from the producers of reality television; only it's real and the Lakers management / LeBron's team kind of did it to themselves...
P.S. If Darvin Ham is somehow able to make all of this work into a cohesive unit he should be mentioned as being in contention for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Might this be the first time we see two teammate get in a fist fight at centre court? Lol

The OP shared this on another thread, but I think it works even better here:

Lakers add a 2 time MVP to their front court, and Nuggets get to shed salary. Win win.
And after few weeks the blind witnesses' would be blaming Jokic on Lakers poor record.

I'm sure they'll try to move him, but I would be very surprised if they sent him home. The Lakers don't exactly have rotation-level players to spare.

That’s not bad at all
Pacers would be making a horrible trade. Horrible.
As a Laker fan, I have no idea why would Pacers do it for just one pick. I hope to get them to bite on like 2 top 4 protected firsts and maybe one or two 2nds. But because of a terrible management job of last year, this team can't risk it to start the season with this roster as it stands. Also I can't see any other trading partner that would make it a win-win trade for both parties.
I don’t think the Pacers trade BOTH Turner and Hield for one pick. I think they might just hold onto both until the deadline or more likely ask for 2 picks and a pick swap. I feel that fans overrate Turner’s value because it seems like the Pacers have been trying to trade him forever. I’m a firm believer that the Lakers should wait until next offseason when they’ll have a ton of assets to trade for an allstar. If they trade 2 picks for Hield and Turner, they better sign Turner to whatever extension he wants because if we lose him as a free agent that would be a freaking disaster.

This is wonderful news. Westbrook’s expiring is worth more than Randle and that albatross contract.

Two picks for Hield and Turner seems far. As you said, they've been shopping him for a few years now and no one has pulled the trigger. Now he's an expiring that Indiana isn't going to resign, they tried to replace him with Ayton and I don't think paying $20 million a year to a 27 year old Turner is part of their rebuilding plan. I'm also not sure what other team is looking to give up more than a first for an expiring center that needs to be resigned to a fairly lucrative deal. Hield is probably neutral value at best with his 2 years left at $18 million, his advanced stats last year weren't good.
If I'm Indiana, I'm trying to play my young guys as much as possible and bottom out this year. Only the Pistons and Magic had worse records in the East last year and I think both teams actually want to win games with their young cores this year. If you can add Wembanyama or another top prospect in the next draft to Haliburton and Mathurin (who I like), now you're cooking with gas.

I kind of like Randle but he's arguably as bad a fit with LeBron and AD as Russ.

Randle would be crazy to come back to the Lakers. Make as much money as possible before playing with Lebron, imo. And obviously a terrible fit.

Or... the Lakers could swap Westbrook and picks for SGA. OKC gets to reunite with Westbrook, MR. OKC... and we know they love picks. LAL gets a proper young star that is worth giving up picks for, and who can take over once Lebron is done.
Even as a trolling comment, this legit made me cringe lol.

You’re right. The KD-era Thunder were absolute horse manure. 0-1 in the Finals, no championships.

Lakers don’t need size. Three-team deal to get them Doncic instead.

The contract is fine, the fit on this team would bring a lot of questions especially with ad not wanting to play centre.
ethier way we are better off with westbrook's contract expering then trading it just to make a trade.
