RIP Tjarks.

Also, some of you guys are idiots. Trying to manufacture some imagined moral outrage towards Bill Simmons of all people based on some flimsy BS non-evidence is sad and pathetic. You have no idea what has happened behind the scenes or what arrangements have or have not been made, show a little class.

Also for any young parents let this be a lesson that any day could be your last. Thinking ahead and getting life insurance before you have a terminal illness along with a written will is beyond life changing for you to RIP in these tragic situations.

Just saying cause once you're blood work comes back bad in a physical for life insurance its to late and that's a stressful way to leave younglings behind.

RIP Tjarks

I have young children too and one of the first things were getting life insurance and setup education fund. Like the post above said, you never know when it will happen, finding out to react is too late.

Disgusting? For calling out a Billionaire for begging people to help an employees family that he should be taking care of? Read his Tweet's replies. Lots of people are saying the same thing.

I always thought he was a really insightful basktekball analyst and really enjoyed his NBA takes on the The Ringer NBA Show.

Rest in Power, JT.

For posterity:

Jonathan Tjarks, 1987-2022

The Ringer has lost a beloved member of its community

Image

The Ringer’s beloved friend and colleague Jonathan Tjarks passed away on Saturday night. Jon is survived by his wife, Melissa, and his son, Jackson. He was one of the first people hired at The Ringer when we began the company, and was one of our most steadfast voices over the years. His loss is incalculable, and our thoughts are with Jon’s family during this time.

If you want to help, we’ll direct you to this GoFundMe page, which directly assists the Tjarks family. We would also like to reshare Jon’s astonishing piece from March, in which he wrote with such clarity, humor, and wisdom about his cancer diagnosis, his family, and his future. Our futures are dimmer without him. Please keep his family in your thoughts.

Big J is right. It’s strange he’s posting that to his Twitter. How does that make him a disgusting human being? Stop projecting

Why does everything devolve into comparing who is a good human and who isn't......

I had a bad feeling that and1 was going to lead me to this news. RIP to a man who brought greater understanding of the game and compassion through his writing. You'll be missed here and elsewhere.

Agreed.

If anything it's the system we live in that allows people to be bankrupt for the crime of getting cancer that is at fault here first and foremost.

Aww. This is extremely sad. He was a very interesting basketball writer. He had unconventional takes and I always enjoyed listening to him. That pod with J. Kyle Mann was so touching and I feel blessed to have been able to listen to it. I listened to about everything he was on. He was also a fellow Maverick fan and it was wonderful to have another Mavs fan to listen to. I'm glad he got to see a great playoff run in person last spring and I pray for his family.

He reay seemed like a good man who lived a happy life. He found a woman he loved, knew God and had a n incredible career. It's extremely sad he is gone. Honestly, selfishly I would have loved to hear his sports (especially Maverick) takes for another 60 years. He and I are roughly the same age. Him, Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe and a few others will most likely be in my life until they retire or one of us die. It makes me very ad he passed so young.

TLDR: Prayers to his family and I very much enjoyed him.

I just caught up on some of his recent stuff like “Does my son know you?”, and the story of how he found his faith as a staunch atheist. Pretty powerful stuff. Sounds like he was one heck of a human being. His son, wife, family all adored him to no end.

Really if you think about it the most you can hope for on earth is to have that kind of impact on everyone around you. If you can look in the mirror and say honestly that you added good to everyone’s lives, you had an incredible legacy.

He was a great example of a man of faith who didn’t judge or mistreat others, but used his own convictions to love and be better. For his age he was already making such a difference. The world lost a bright light last night, but heaven gained one.
