Re: Schroder to Lakers for one year $2.64 million deal
Not sure why Schroder came back or the Lakers wanted him back. It did not work out last time and Schroder often looked uncomfortable on the court. Sounds like the Lakers will be bringing back more of the same. My main joy in watching this season will be Lebron and Reaves. Reaves closed out last season very strong and I know he can be a big part of the team if he's given the minutes. He could low key be the point guard on a team with Lebron.

As a Laker fan, it's tough to watch. Dude just seems like he's winging it out there. There's no plan, no vision, no continuity. He just cobbles rosters together and hope for the best. It's a great value signing but if you slot guys at the position the have mostly played in their careers, it looks like this:
Jones, Bryant
AD, Gabriel
Lebron, JTA, Brown Jr
Walker, Reaves, Christie*
Westbrook, Beverly, Dennis Nunn
0 balance. Weak shooting. No length. Void of 2 way wings. Your 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th best players all play the same position.
He’s just hoping to catch lightening in a bottle , sort of like that 2020 season when they had also signed castoffs. Regardless what makes or breaks this team is WB if he stays or what they can flip him for(aside from health on their top 2 players)

Obviously a great pick up for the Lakers.

What's with all the obsession with Utah. I think Spurs would be a better trade partner.

Rumor's suggest Poeltl could be had and they have some capspace, think they'd be interested in Westbrook and 2xfrps for Poeltl and Richardson? I just think more is out there than we may think and this trade would balance out the roster. Could even throw in McBuckets and send Christie back if you wanted as a trade like this means you eat into your cap space for next year. I'm personally not excited about the vets in Utah outside Bog.
PG - Dennis Schroder, Kendrick Nunn, Austin Reaves, Scotty Pippen Jr. (TW)
SG - Patrick Beverley, Lonnie Walker IV, Max Christie
SF - LeBron James, Jason Richardson, Troy Brown Jr., Cole Swider (TW)
PF - Anthony Davis, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Wenyen Gabriel
C - Jakob Poeltl, Thomas Bryant, Damian Jones

It's actually reasonably balanced except paying for Lonnie as an 11th man seems silly. Though Lonnie is backing up Beverley and Nunn, both seem to be injury concerns.
They have 1 more vet min deals to give out too. Thinking maybe they choose Griffin.
Gabriel is non-guaranteed as well if they want to add a buyout later in the season.
Yeah, I’m going to have to strongly disagree.
This roster looks atrocious. Probably in the running for worst C and SG rotation in the league? Bottom 3 pg rotation if Russ is sent home?
If the worst team in the league had that bench we’d all say “wow, that bench is terrible”. And the Lakers are actually trying to compete.
When you actually see the lineup laid out like this it looks so so so bad.

Yeah, but... imagine how focused and determined he will be this season. Watch out for his best NBA season by a mile.

Lonnie was the most expensive addition for this season. Lonnie should make the rotation in the place of Reaves, JTA, or Jones (with LeBron playing PF and AD C).
Nevertheless, the rotation seems very small. The Shooting guards are undersized and also the SF are undersized when LeBron is not playing this position.
Only Bevs, JTA, and Nunn are career 35%+ 3pt shooters. Last year Bevs and JTA had 32% from deep and Nunn did not play at all.

He has motor. He’s just a little dumb sometimes in terms of bball IQ. He will be a pesky defender if he follows Pat Bevs lead

Yeah but 2.6 million is still a lot. I doubt Kareem got that in a single season.
True Dennis can afford anything that he ever wants in life so at the end of the day he’s still winning overall

Pelinka has no idea what he is doing... Signing, trading without any vision of putting together a team...
Lebron isn't 30, he cannot carry a bunch of individuals to a title anymore...
I do not see Lakers going anywhere with this "team"...

Lakers started off 21-6 with Schroder at pg before AD went down on valentines day in 20-21. They can win games with him.

For the Lakers, I think this is just The Devil You Know.
