Well, if 37 yr old Dwight is going to be blowing past them, then I guess they are just terrible, which kinda answers my question

Taiwan is going to have an excellent national team in about 20 years...

It starts with the D

Its mind-blowing how popular the D-word has become.
Just about every tv show has a character whose called somebody a d***.
Its like nobody can think of a curse word to use instead of d***.
So weird :o

Yep, definitely not a good league. Better than the Peruvian or Mongolian leagues, but not a league that would be taken seriously by international scouts.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I get that this was a joke in your mind but you seem to acknowledge it is crass and offensive. Pro tip: don't be crass and offensive. -b

I live in Taiwan, some information you guys might interested.
1. The pay is not bad. We heard it is more than 300K per month.
2. He is not as dominant as I thought he would be. I thought it would be at least prime Shaq like. Just two or three dunks in the first game. His team came back from 25 points deficit and win in the OT. Not easy at all, it definitely harder than he might think. He looked gassed after the game.
3.He lost his second game. 23P/9R/10A. 38%FG
4.some other players hardcore fans might know(I don’t though ) also play in this league.
Troy Williams(NCAA Indiana), Diamond Stone(2016 40th pick), Deyonta Davis(2016 31th pick). Williams and Davis are his teammates.
5.He is treated like a rockstar here. All over the news, not just sports news. ALL THE NEWS. Even non-sports fans know he is coming to Taiwan. The league was not popular at all, attendance per game was less than 1K. And Dwight now sold all the available tickets out till march 2023(15K per game).
6.Taiwan people are not good at play basketball, but we love NBA. Dwight definitely would enjoy his time here. And there’s rumor they are trying to get Melo over here.

Honestly, good for him.
I would much rather see those former all-nba/high end players like Cousins, Anthony or even Crawford ride into sunset and become legends in overseas leagues than see them collect 10-days contract. They will help grow the popularity of basketball all around the world and will probably have more fun than being stuck on the bench.

That his debut was packed, that's kind expected, but selling out six month in advance is seriously impressive

The Japanese language doesn’t use L’s. They speak Chinese in Taiwan and L’s are one of the most common sounds.

I am a huge fan of NBA since Penny Hardaway was the most popular player in the league. (Feel old by saying this…)
But I have not watched a full NBA game this season, not interested enough in the current league. I might start to watch in the playoff.
But I watched the two full games that Dwight played in Taiwan. I have not watched even a minute of this league before. And I find it extremely entertaining. I am curious to know how a famous NBA player would perform against Taiwanese player.
The first game is extremely fun and exciting. A super human out of nowhere, underperformed in first half, fans disappointed, down by 25. Second half, shoot threes, monster alley-oop, a block force the game to OT(followed by Mutombo gesture). And then wins the game with 38P/25R/9A/4B.

Can not write a better script.

The second game not so entertaining though.

Yeah, it sold out within like 5 minutes for games that open for sell.

I could imagine Dwight would be popular, but not THAT popular.

Fans started questioning why the tickets are that cheap LOL. The cheapest one is just 3 dollars. I believe they have increased the price already. Fans are willing to pay 30 dollars for the cheapest seat.

Please don't feel old... I remember Penny as a rookie too, I began following the NBA around that time, a couple of years before that if I'm not mistaken.

I rarely watch the NBA games, as they start (and mainly, finish) too late in my timezone. I mean, how can I watch Warriors games when they finish at roughly 2 in the morning and I have to wake up at 6 am just a few hours later? It's impossible for me.

I only watch the playoffs, and selected games too. But I try to read a lot about the NBA (always have), and watch videos too, just not full games.

Dwight's best is yet to come in your league... the more he gets acquainted with his teammates and the style of the game, the better he will be. I think he will be the MVP of your league quite easily, to be frank.

Cheers!

He definitely will. Same as in the NBA and FIBA, his most valuable attribute is still defense. He basically shut down all the activity of opponent in the paint.

However, even in this low level league, his offence is still ugly. Before the game, I guessed it would be looking A LOT better than he actually did. But Still UGLY.

For this kind of low level league, I think Forwards would be the best fit, because they can do it all. They have enough skill to be PG in this league, and have the physique to be center. Hopefully, Melo could let me know if I am right. Maybe, guys like Isaiah Thomas would impact more?? Really don’t know, need to see it to know it. This kind of uncertainty interested me more than the NBA game.

Actually the league did try to get Isaish to play here, and rumors are he asked more than Dwight, like three times more. Fans in Taiwan is like, who the hell he think he is. Seems like the brinks truck drama not only stay in the States LOL.

There was a long hair dude on the court and for a moment I thought that was Luis Scola.
