People settle out of court all the time to save on attorney fees and because they’re not sure how a jury will vote.

I'm agnostic on the Kobe situation, but his apology letter comes across worse than the settlement money. If I was falsely accused of rape, I could see a situation where I would pay a settlement just to end the whole thing and move on, but I would never write that letter that comes across as an acknowledgement that she was a victim. If you are innocent and someone drags you threw a year long trial, you don't apologize for anything.

Things used to just be brushed aside and not talked about. Roman Polanski was celebrated at the Oscars 20 years ago and now he is banned from the Oscars. Karl Malone is a piece of **** that not only raped a 13 yr old girl as a college student. Didn't even bother to pay child support and even did his best to negotiate it down as much as possible before settling out of court. The only reason he had a NBA career was because the family of the child didn't want to press charges. He should be counting his lucky stars that he wasn't behind ****in bars and made millions as a NBA player. Malone never faced any consequences back then and the NBA choosing to celebrate him is disgusting and a awful look for the league.
