Going to be glorious when the Cavs close them out in 5. Let’s just hope they have Randle so we don’t have to hear a bunch of whining and excuses

Where exactly is the offense going to come from to do that?

Both Allen (our defensive anchor) and Okoro (our best perimeter defender) didn't play last night. Let's see how Brunson does when they're both on the court in the playoffs.

Randle playing would be a win for the Cavs. He's predictable, one-dimensional, and the biggest playoff choker in the league this side of Harden and Embiid.

Yes but Randle's single playoff appearance was so horrendous that it may legitimately be the worst playoff dropoff in history.

Cool, but against the Knicks they have a 109.4 ORTG, so I'll ask again, where is the scoring going to come from? The Cavs 3rd scorer is Mobley on the season, against the Knicks he's averaging 13.3ppg, they have done an excellent job on Garland 19.7ppg on 34.5%, Mitchell is going to get his, but the Knicks have shut everything else down thus far and I expect that to continue. The Knicks matchup extremely well with the Cavs, and have the experience edge, as well as depth, so thinking the Cavs are going to win in 5 is delusional.

And the topper, the Cavs are 19-21 vs teams above .500, the Knicks are 21-19..

It's funny, they're saying they're missing Okoro and Allen, they lost a game earlier when they were at full strength while the Knicks were starting Sims at C :lol:

They lost last night, badly while Randle was out too. I don't know how anyone could watch these two teams play this year, see all the perimeter defenders the Knicks can throw at Garland, and then come away thinking the Cavs will win in 5, especially when their offense has hit a roadblock in them despite Mitchell averaging 32ppg.

So let me get this straight. Cavs with Mitchell have to be full strength to beat the shorthanded Knicks... but he joined the better team?

Hmmmm. Maybe Mitchell kinda sucks then.

i’m reminded why i hate the general board on the daily this season lol

You've definitely gotta be ready for some people who just like to hear themselves talk, but there are some good folks on here that at least try to engage in actually discussions. Plus it's not like our board is free of chest-thumping & d***-measuring :lol:

As a self-creator right now? Maybe. But I would kill to have that kid next to Julius, RJ, Jalen, & Grimes; especially once he fills out. He's just so smart on both ends of the court with great hands & touch. He still needs a few years before he really breaks out, but he's a fantastic young talent.

TBF the playoffs aren't the regular season. It won't be a surprise if we lose in round 1, but it also won't be a shock if we take them out.

I'm getting some 2021 Knicks/Hawks vibes here. Everyone was acting like the Knicks were going to breeze through the Hawks, every single person at ESPN picked the Knicks, Knicks fans were acting cocky... and then they were lucky to win a single game because the Hawks were just way more talented. The Cavs will be huge favorites in this matchup and I'd be surprised if it goes more than 5-6 games.

But yea he hurt his finger lol

Many of these are factually incorrect or misleading presented, but somehow I suspect you don't care too much about that :lol:

As you were.

Which ones are factually incorrect? Go ahead and list them so I can bust out the stats

If you're being genuine about want to discuss this, then lets begin with "He's been a really good finisher for his whole career" - so the reality is that RJ's FG% from 0-3FT away have been 56.8, 60.5, 59.6, and 64.4% this season. That career-best 64.4% from 0-3FT away puts RJ Barrett 191th in the NBA this season. Are there 190 better than "really good" finishers in the NBA? Or now that we've actually looked at some #s, would you agree that his finishing around the rim is still an area where RJ needs to make significant progress?

"FTr this is down since last year" - his FTr is 33.3%, so you're right that that's a little below the 34.0% he hit last year...but it's misleading to present that as a meaningful drop when he was at 26.0% the year before...prior to the immense progress his handle & footwork have made.

"he's never been able to shoot from anywhere" - I'm just going to look at full season #s, because if we used RJ's post-holiday splits from either of the past two years, we could pick a lot of spots that RJ hit his shots from at a good clip, but two years ago he shot 42.4% on corner 3s over the course of a full season.

"below average rebounder for his size" - RJ's rebound rates are similar or better than his main comps, almost identical to Jaylen Brown's rates the same age and better than Jimmy Butler & Demar DeRozan's.

"can’t do anything with his right hand" -

The only point you've made that's a valid critique is that he's not a good defender...though again you went overboard by saying he's a dreadful defender, when he's actually just middle of the road to mediocre defensively.

I can see why you'd say that and I won't be surprised if we lose, but there are a few critical differences:
1) Robinson missed that series, so Capela tore us up and we couldn't do a thing to stop Trae's PNRs;
2) instead of banking on Rose coming off the bench, we're starting Brunson;
3) they've been playing with fans all season, whereas against the hawks the noise shook us;
4) this team does have that prior playoff experience; and
5) we're just a much more talented team than we were that year. This year we don't have anyone in the rotation who's offensively incompetent and by keeping two of Randle, Brunson, Barrett, or Quickley on the court at all times we always have good rim-pressure...against the hawks we started Payton & Noel which was like playing 3-on-5 offensively.

So the cavs will be understandably favored, but I'm optimistic this series won't go the way that one did.

You're quoting someone who is being realistic about and doing the opposite of what you suggest was the 'cocky' attitude but basing this opinion on your own 'vibes'? Seems like you are telling a story about people that isn't really going on, it's kind of trollish baiting, be better than that.

Oh wait, yea, I have to remember where I am, never mind. :lol:

lol, I just got home a little bit ago & can't sleep.

Plus, people deserve the chance to prove they don't want to engage in good-faith discussion. If I get a reasonable response then cool, if all I get back is "banter" instead then no sweat off my back.
