chris paul recently came off the bench for the first time in his career, ending his league leading streak of most games played without ever coming off the bench. who is the new leader?

bonus: for players who started their careers post merger, who is the leader in games played without coming off the bench among inactive players?

1st question i think is guessable. 2nd question no one will ever get without looking it up.

At first I was surprised it wasn't lbj but then I saw that cp3 never came off the bench even once prior to this season while Bron did once in 07-08.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

LeBron came off the bench because fans were mad at Varejao over a holdout, which seems crazy in hindsight, and he wanted to make sure he got an ovation when coming into the game

Danny Ferry? I think the Cavs gave him an absurdly long contract that may have still been running when he was our GM

New Leader:
Guessing Kevin Durant but it feels wrong… maybe Brook Lopez (but think he came off bench for Lakers?)

Historical Leader:
Do you mean longest streak w/o coming off the bench - or never ever, not even once did it?

I’ll guess Tim Duncan or Robert Parish

good guess! kd came off the bench three times his first season in brooklyn.

inactive player (who started playing after 1979 when game starts were official stat) who never came off the bench once.

duncan is a great guess, but like kd he came off the bench three times in his career. parish's career began before 1980, but he came off the bench quite a bit towards the end.

the answer would surprise people, it's not a player anyone would know so i'm just going to say it. zavier simpson started all four games he's appeared in his career (for the thunder). that is the record. every other inactive player whose career started after 1980 has come off the bench at least once in their career. crazy, huh?

Was it Drazen Petrovic? I know Reggie has spoken of him. If not him, then Larry Bird or Chris Mullin?

Yup, Reggie said Drazen Petrovic was the best shooter he ever saw in his life.

That was back in 2011 so I’m sure now he would say Steph!

Not who I have in mind.

Also, you may have misunderstood the question. It's about renunciation of FA rights, not termination of an ongoing contract.

Nikola Vučević
Peja Stojaković

What do these four guys have in common (other than they are all white)?

Hint 1: Not basketball related.
Hint 2: With Peja you could argue whether he belongs on that list.

They were not born in their home country, except for Peja I guess. Could have used Tony Parker instead, he's french-american born in Belgium.

Correct answer. The reason I used Peja and mentioned that you could argue about him, is that he's Serbian but was born in what is now Croatia. However, when he was born it was Yugoslavia, so it's not as clear as with the others.

I wasn't aware that Parker was born in Belgium.

Will give the answer as no one had it.

Andrew Gaze
Shane Heal
Patty Mills
Aron Baynes
Jock Landale
And… Stephen Jackson!

And the bonus question:
Assistant Brett Brown coached in the NBL.
Assistant Matt Nielsen played and coached in the NBL.
