They seem to be less reliant on the 3 point shot. Before their latest home stand they were in the bottom half in 3 point shooting but were finding other ways to win.
I'm talking attempts. They take a massive amount of 3s. It's a major staple of their offense. They may be able to overcome it, but it would be pretty tough (it would also be pretty damn tough to beat them if they had a hot shooting series)
No i get where you coming from but the numbers bear out they arent as relient on 3. Last season they basically won or loss on how well thry shot the 3 especially when they hit a certain amount of 3s.
For example from last year
the Celtics were 34-3 when shooting over 39% from 3P and 23-22 otherwise.
This year theyve been in the bottom half of shooting but are still winning games. So yeah they will always shoot a lot of attempts but their offense is more diverse now. They are top 5 in post up frequency and 2nd in points per possesion from post ups this year compared to being bottom 10 last year in post up frequency.
Last year was pretty extreme in terms of how the numbers played out, and I get what you're saying in terms of having more reliable things they can go to when the shots aren't falling.
They're shooting just as many this year though. And they are shooting .296 from 3 in their losses and .390 in wins. I don't know what the league average split in 3p% between wins and losses, but that feels pretty extreme. Maybe the lesson there is that the
only way to beat them is if they shoot like ****.
