I'm talking attempts. They take a massive amount of 3s. It's a major staple of their offense. They may be able to overcome it, but it would be pretty tough (it would also be pretty damn tough to beat them if they had a hot shooting series)

No i get where you coming from but the numbers bear out they arent as relient on 3. Last season they basically won or loss on how well thry shot the 3 especially when they hit a certain amount of 3s.

For example from last year

the Celtics were 34-3 when shooting over 39% from 3P and 23-22 otherwise.

This year theyve been in the bottom half of shooting but are still winning games. So yeah they will always shoot a lot of attempts but their offense is more diverse now. They are top 5 in post up frequency and 2nd in points per possesion from post ups this year compared to being bottom 10 last year in post up frequency.

Last year was pretty extreme in terms of how the numbers played out, and I get what you're saying in terms of having more reliable things they can go to when the shots aren't falling.

They're shooting just as many this year though. And they are shooting .296 from 3 in their losses and .390 in wins. I don't know what the league average split in 3p% between wins and losses, but that feels pretty extreme. Maybe the lesson there is that the only way to beat them is if they shoot like ****.

Is this as guaranteed as the 2007 Patriots winning it all? I was told before the SB they were guaranteed to win it, their undefeated record to that point proved it and the SB was just a formality. Is it the same as how the 73-9 Warriors were also guaranteed to win?

Their delta on 3P% in wins vs. losses is bigger this season than last season. That's a better measure than some kind of random comparison you did.

3p% in wins this season: 39%
in losses: 29.6%
delta: 9.4%

3p% in wins last season: 40.3%
in losses: 31.6%
delta: 8.7%

The Celtics winning is more reliant on 3-point shooting this season.

I feel like this is a good time to point out the team with the all time greatest regular season record in NBA history did not win the championship.

There’s a reason we play the games.

Well that's some cap

How's that not true ? Tatum is a top10 guy...but there is no other top15 player on team, I'd even say there is no other top20 player. It's a team which has lot of good players (top50) but only one of those is a top20 player. Porzingis is also injury prone which makes things even more uncertain

Is Tatum not arguably a top 5 guy. Maybe he is 6th but i think he's closer to a top 5 guy than just top 10.

The consenus top 5 guys are

Embiid
Jokic
Giannis
Luka

After those guys i would argue Tatum. I dont think in 2024 guys like Curry, Durant or LeBron can sustain themselves over a season like in prime Tatum.

After the top 10ish guys i think guys from 15 to 30 are all close and fluctuates season to season and sometimes week to week. For example, i think Jaylen was not good his first 10 games or so but in his last 10 he seems to be playing a lot better, but i think most view his season as he still playing like his first 10 games so the narrative is lagging behind his actual play right now.

Tatum is definitely not among top 5 players. Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, Luka and Shai are easily ahead of him.

You swept the Magic over the weekend. So yes, you are already champions in my book.

Tatum has looked amazing this year when I've seen him. I'd have him over SGA.

The Heat will still take them to 7. No matter what. Then anything can happen.

Agreed. If mods pin this, we can move on to next season, and stop wasting time. Celtics have won this year.

Celtic fans putting the cart before the horse and effectively guaranteeing a title... again...

And when they inevitably come up short... again...

In all seriousness, my dude... good luck to your squad. :)

I think they have an extremely high chance to win. It'll be a Celtics - Clippers finals, book it.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.
