latest developments are good news for the Nuggets imo. I think the Nuggets should avoid PHX and have held this view for most of the season. Nuggets figured it out last season but Booker was unstoppable for 3 games, KD was pretty meh and they were shorthanded and had a weak roster. this year, with some decent role players and Nurkic in place on Ayton they are just a matchup nightmare for the Nuggets.
after their loss to PHX in Denver, Jokic was asked about KD and said something along the lines of: he's a great scorer, maybe we can do a better job slowing him down and maybe we can't
if the Suns click at the right time and shoot well from the perimeter they are a very dangerous team for anyone but imo they matchup very well with the Nuggets and Nuggets will struggle to contain that defensively. significant chance of an upset.
thus, PHX getting out of play-in territory makes it easier for the Nuggets to plan to avoid them, they just need to make sure they get either 1st or 2nd and that's very realistic, especially with OKCs stars current hampered by injuries
I think the Nuggets are very comfortable with getting either of the current play-in teams in the first: Dubs, Lakers, Sac and Pels
OKC on the other hand, imo should avoid the Mavs and if the Clippers can hang on and PHX surpasses the Mavs - they may end up getting the least favorable matchup imo for them, as a #3 vs #6 first round
