I don't really understand people critiquing Embiid. I'm not a fan of the guy but you have soft French fans concerned with him not having joined their team so they boo him and he's just returning the favor regardless of how he's played or is playing.

imagine complaining about someone that didn't start this nonsense in the first place and then he has a few tongue in cheek moments with the crowd and we're talking about how he's a bad representative of Americans.

What the **** does that make French people then? I guess they're even bigger **** than Americans for constantly booing a player too by that logic.

That's all fair, there's lots to criticize him for besides necessarily this, but to call him a national treasure is what is pretty ridiculous to me.

Embiid is a professional troll who happens to be great at basketball. Basketball is entertainment he's just entertaining and and engaging with fans. You take that as a negative because you take life too seriously. Others like myself can see he's just a big kid who loves to go back n forth with the people booing him.

In a 7 or even 5 or 3 game series sure, usa would essentially be unbeatable

But 1 game elimination is inherently volatile and has a tiny error margin as ncaa basketball shows.

Is actually a crazy testament to usa overwhelming talent edge they are essentially unbeaten/almost unbeaten all time when bringing their A teams but all it takes is one bad game (and good luck on the other side)

Honestly this whole thing was similar to college recruiting. He chose USA. I think the fact he’s been here almost 20 years and never stepped foot in La France makes it not a weak move. IMO

France tripped over themselves to get Embiid a passport. And he's not even French. Has not even lived in France and now they are upset that he decided to play for a country that he is an actual citizen of. That's just crazy on Embiid's part, right. France should be ashamed that they went to such lengths to get a player that has never lived in their country. If I am not mistaken this is the first time he has ever set foot on French soil. Brilliant showcase of ignorance as to why the French have anything to do with it. I won't spell it out for you, but it's easy enough to understand as to why they'd bother outside of him being a basketball player who might have aided in their efforts.

I know it can be hard for some people to stay on topic without taking things personal but you don't strike me as that kind of person....although I have been known to be wrong before. So just the facts please tell me where I was wrong with what happened with Embiid and the French government?

Cameroon, where Embiid has ancestry, is and has been a partial if not largely French territory. Because of that, it's why they would be willing to give him citizenship as a Frenchman. All of that is easy enough to take a minute to look up.

Now him going out of his way to ask for French citizenship is on him and Macron granting that was his choice. Embiid deciding against playing for France was his call and whatever his reasons were... well... his. Embiid choosing to partake in childish behavior seems to be something he enjoys even though he could be above it as a representative of the United States national team. But I suppose some behaviors are hard to put aside.

And you're speaking from a point of ignorance about me as you don't know me any more than I know you. Assumptions are free though, so do as you see fit. I don't take things personally. That's a waste of time and energy.

Let's be honest here: Your record when it comes to posting isn't what I'd call the best, but I'm not going to judge you in a blanket sense. The international.baaketball system of development is inferior to the US system. It's obvious that the international basketball system is much like China in concentrating its efforts specifically towards developing only the young players that are very tall early in life. His family have immigrated to France from
Cameroon. The French have housed them and given them a better life. He wrote a letter asking for citizenship and he’d repay them with playing for France. They gave him citizenship and he bounced.
