Detroit, Charlotte, Milwaukee (if Giannis is the 5), Minnesota and Dallas are all teams I could see looking at the type of player Giddey could be for them.

Personally, I think he needs to look at tape of players with his body type who use their size and angles to defend. Playing NBA defense is tough as all hell. He's gotta show the effort to improve and teams will see that if he's trying, his offense will make up for it.

Since this thread gets updated whenever he has a good shooting game, I figured I'd go ahead and keep it properly updated, since these kind of lines are also common for Josh.

Also a career high in FTA with 11. He definitely had a very poor shooting night, but in the end it was still an 18/9/7 game even with the bad shooting.

The vast majority of rookies that put up his stat lines would have ended up getting a mega high usage, run the team stretch. OKC even wanted to do it in his rookie year when they shut Shai down, but he got that season ending hip injury.

He is finally getting that chance, and the results are at a minimum, intriguing.

I followed the man throughout his entire career. He has some great stretches here and there, and just cools off.

I remember him going through a great stretch back in 2023 even, I think it was around January. He had a 10 game stretch of 19-20 ppg with 50+ shooting from the field. Then something happened and it just, stopped.

That's who Giddey is. He just falters off at some point and regresses to his mean. Some players tend to be streaky like that.

Can Giddey become consistent throughout an entire season? Sure, I'm not denying the possibility of it happening. Would it shock me if it actually happened? Yes, yes it would.

I'm an OKC fan too, but I have also watched most of the Bulls games this season so I have watched his whole career myself.

It needs to be realized that we have never seen what the regression to the mean is for a 1st option Giddey. He was 17/8/7 in 32 games for OKC where Shai didn't play. That was for 18-21 year old Giddey.

This year his defense, shooting and foul drawing have all improved. I am not saying they are strengths or anything like that. But those are his 3 most critical fixes and they are getting better.

Giddey with another 19, 13, 8 game vs the Magic.

His 3 ball has slowed the past few games with more misses and less attempts.

His FT shooting is on the rise. 7-8 this game.

His D is still progressing. His hustle and impact plays are def developing.

Starting to see Giddey becoming a winning player that has a good ceiling if he keeps improving. Which it looks like he will as he has since his rookie season.

If the Bulls are smart, they do not break the bank and overpay for Giddey, signing him to a new contract.

The Giddler showing what he can do with the keys.

Def helps he’s playing with high IQ players like Jones Collins and Huerter that know how to move and where to go.

That three-point shot has really come along. He's shooting 44.3% 3PT on 4.0 attempts per game over the last 29 games.

Last 20 games:

- 33.2 minutes per game
- 18.1 ppg, 8.4 rpg (2.2 off), 7.0 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.9 bpg, 2.8 topg
- 49.8% FG, 51.9% 2PT (8.1 attempts), 46.2% 3PT (4.6 attempts), 81.9% FT (4.2 attempts), 62.5% TS (109 TS+)

Was there any doubt that even role players can explode on certain situations when development is prioritized over actuall quality, winning basketball?

Giddey's hot shooting streaks are getting hotter and longer compared to previous seasons. The next sign of improvement would be not having those 6 week stretches at 25%, or to start making more challenging 3's. I can remember 1 pull up 3 and 1 walk back 3 in this stretch, but most of it is still on wide open catch and shoot.

His shot mechanics have improved by 50% but they still have a long ways to go. Bulls shooting coach Patton is really good but Giddey didn’t get to work with him last summer due to Olympics and his ankle injury. I think it will take this summer and probably half of next season to get him up to full speed.

I’ve been saying 40% on 5 3PA per game. I think he will get there in time. His biggest issue is like you said more volume than wide open. Hes starting to shoot more when they go under PNR screen and more in transition but he needs to up the volume of contested 3s.

Equally important is his FTA. He needs to get 6 per game at 80% he’s been doing that.

Left the game early in the fourth with an injury. He was looking at a career scoring night if not for it.

Need to update thread title or have 1st page updated stats from after TDL.

Kid is playing best ball of his career and his confidence is flying high. Hate to see someone get hurt when they are playing their absolute best as you'd like to see how high they can go and for how long.
