Lol what, chances are like above 99% there's an all-star in there. Castle is obvious. Sarr, Risacher, Buzelis, McCain and Ware have looked really good at times as well and would have the best chances IMO

Sorry for OT, but is your username a reference to Alejandro Valverde?

You bet!

So let me get it straight: the guy shoots 34.8% from the field and 31.1% from 3 on low volume while being a traffic cone on D, but he'd be BETTER in a larger role? hmmm... color me skeptical.

I voted for Castle, i think he can impact and will impact basketball game beyond counting stats due his effort and defense, i think he has toolbox very few guards of his age have, but in same time Risacher is actually way more solid than some people say.

He is raw, just turned 20 but his fundamentals are solid.

Sarr is all over the place, in some games you can see talent, in some games you can see Bruno Caboclo vol.2.

Never forget.

Spurs were reportedly focused on getting Risacher to pair with Wemby...Steph Castle is just San Antonio's consolation prize. :cry:

Lol...Dusty Garza is a well known hack and peddler of BS Spurs news. Considering Risacher was projected to be the #1 pick, it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted him. But I wouldn't use anything Dusty Garza says as proof of anything :lol:

Finger and Wright went hard at him recently. Oof.

I remember when we reportedly took Kai Jones out to dinner. Good times...

Really looking like both Ke'lel Ware and Zach Edey probably would be the top 2 candidates for this award if they had gotten 27-30ish minutes all season. I like Edey but I don't think he'll be a superstar or anything. Hopefully he can be Brook Lopez. Ware I'm pretty high on, hope he can be an all-star.

After today, Castle has 14.5 points (on 42.7 FG%, 49.9 2P%, 28.4 3P%, 71.8 FT), 4 assists and 3.6 reb
ROY should be secured by now.

It's been secured for a while based on the betting odds. Still can't figure out why they got Fox unless they don't think Castle is a PG

He isn't really a pure PG, he is more of a physical combo guard who can shoulder some playmaking duties. I think he is actually a very good pairing next to Fox. Just needs to work on his 3pt shot over the summer

Fox fell into the Spurs lap, at the price tag (basically Bulls 25, Spurs 27 and TWolves 31 + 4 SRPs) Spurs couldn't say no. Also it's not like Castle is a smallish guard who has to be on ball to be effective, he has legit wing size (6'5.5" barefoot with 6'9" wingspan) and can play on or off ball and defend. He's also 20, so if at any point it becomes obvious he should take over Spurs can act on it, though I don't foresee that being necessary in the next couple of years at least. Basically it was take the talent now and we'll figure things out at the right time should anything change (as should always be the case, you can't expect to anticipate the future 100%).

It is if scoring efficiency is meaningless, which it appears to be in ROY voting.

Castle is going to end the season around -123 TS+, which is bottom 5 in the NBA with Barnes, Kuzma, K Johnson and Sarr.

Wemby won ROY at -41.
Paolo won ROY at -140.
Barnes won ROY at -28.
Ball won ROY at -45.
Ja won ROY at -18.
Luka won ROY at -40.

Here is Risacher.

Risacher Pre vs. Post All-Star Break

PPG: 11.4 -> 14.0
RPG: 3.3 -> 4.1
APG: 1.2 -> 1.3
Stocks: 1.3 -> 0.5
Turnovers: 1.1 -> 1.5
TS%: 52.6% -> 59.0%
3P%: 31.7 -> 39.8%
Usage: 20.5% -> 21.2%

Castle

Stocks: 1.2 -> 1.3
Turnovers: 1.9 -> 2.6
TS%: 51.5% -> 52.6

Read on Twitter

Risacher last 20 games:

14.7 PPG
3.8 RPG
1.2 APG
50.0 FG% (59.2 eFG%)

Castle

48.8 eFG%

Interestingly, a league predicated on efficiency somehow ignored efficiency in the ROY voting. I don't have a horse in the race, but I would personally side with the player who impacts winning more between these two.
