Mike Malone is not the problem. He's a good coach. Booth blows. The talent blows.

Surprised it came now instead of in the summer but this was inevitable, especially the Booth firing. It's amazing how many quality assets the Nuggets have lost for nothing during the Jokic era and not just since the ship.

Malone always wanted to be a Popovich type coach. One franchise, multiple chips, one of the goat coaches all time with one of the goat big men of all time.

Problem is he did more talking about that than executing. I like Malone and think he’s a good coach, but he had some major mistakes and the defense/bench was simply inexcusable.

Why is it always people who aren't a fan of the team that say things like this?

Literally ever Nuggets fan i've seen on this forum wants him gone. Jokic can only save him for so long.

Have you seen a person on this board who doesn't want their coach fired  :banghead: He just won a championship less than two years ago, truly must be awful.

If this is even true. I can't believe it.

How is Kidd comparable to Malone

Kidd's got like 6 healthy players.

I would rather have Malone than Kidd as a coach and i would drive Kidd to the airport myself

Malone should kiss Jokic's feet before leaving.

Remember they were saying Denver could be a dynasty when they had the cakewalk run to the ring?

I get the Booth firing. The Malone one makes no sense to me. He also has to coach a roster that has just 1 All Star on it and 50% of its cap tied into Murray and MPJ.

Unless Malone went to the front office demanding they pay Murray and MPJ those contracts, the firing makes no sense.

Unless Jokic told the front office he wanted Malone gone. But either way, youre just flat out limited when you only have 1 All Star (granted best player in the game) on your roster and 50% of your cap goes to MPJ and Murry. Youre just not going to compete, it is what it is.

I don’t really care on if the argument could be made to fire him this offseason. That may be there, especially if they had a first round exit.

But 5 games before end of the year? That is absolutely ridiculous, bush league garbage. He deserved the opportunity to finish out this season.

what is going on with these coach firings? Why would you fire your coach right before the playoffs? Are they just expecting to lose in the first round?

Also all of this would be far more fun to speculate about, if Luka didnt already get traded to LA. If he was still in Dallas and Dallas was kind of spinning their wheels and all this was going on in Denver. You know for a fact the talk of pairing Luka and Jokic together would be nonstop.

The writing was on the wall. Couldn’t sit idle with Jokic clearly not liking the direction the team was headed

That said a few games before the playoffs is rather reactionary

Yep.

File this firing under "You fire the coach because you can't fire players"

every fanbase hates the the coach, regardless of their success. I would definitely not listen to the people who are emotionally invested in the team.

Nuggets never were the same after we delivered them that ass whopping in late February. They've gone 10-12 ever since.
