Okoro stinks. Nobody will want him unless an asset is attached.
Okoro led the Cavs in on/off plus-minus, and while he's not necessarily driving that number he's also holding his own out there. He's just slowly worked his way to the end of the rotation for an offense-first coach. The thing is, he never forgets to play defense even in that environment, which most of the rest of the team can lose focus on.
Okoro's not making enough money to get us significantly under the 2nd apron. If we offloaded him for no returning salary and let Jerome and Merrill walk, we still wouldn't be far enough under the 2nd apron to fill out the roster with vet minimums.
In other words, there’s no avoiding the second apron. We might as well do everything in our power to keep the current team together. But with that said… losing Jerome will hurt if that in fact happens.
