I love it. Everyone knows next year is a throwaway play the young guys season. Reset the roster and prime for 2027.

Indeed. it's deja vu. The Dubs played this song after Klay, KD, and Steph, among others, were out for a year plus.

Tatum will come back to play with Brown, White and Prichard. They should be still competitive. They also should have Simons (if not get traded again), Niang and probably Kornet.

Considering KP was always injury and Jtue was missing many games, its not a huge drop.

Also Boston owns their pick next draft, so this can turn into the same scenario like the Spurs when Robinson was injured or the Warriors with Curry. Interestingly, the Celtics also have the biggest need at Center. So the question is, if they go that rpute, do they wind up with a Duncan or a Wiseman situation :D .

Fascinating how many people on a site called “real GM” have zero comprehension of how the CBA works or even exists.

This is a salary dump to get under the 2nd apron, don’t read into the demise of Boston or anything as they’re the first victim of this but many others will follow.

While it's great to have all those and the means to take them, I'm thinking these will be useful bargaining chips in trades for veterans and expect at least a couple will change hands tomorrow.

Nice bounce back by the Nets to have 5 FRPs going into tomorrow's draft. A few years ago they looked dead on the side of the road after the Kyrie/KD experiment failed.

Porzingis is overrated. A dangerous but flawed player even when healthy and he's always hurt. Celtics will be okay without him. He absolutely killed them in the playoffs this year.

Frankly, I don't think he cares all that much about basketball. I don't have any evidence, it's just a vibe I get. I doubt being shipped to ATL is going to rekindle his passion for the game.

I didn’t see Steven’s being able to pull any magic out of that one. He’s an expiring that is can’t be counted on to stay healthy.

I wonder when the team actually needs to be below the apron in order to not have to face the penalties? Otherwise a guy like Porzingis on an expiring contract can be an attractive trade deadline piece - where you might even be able to get someone to overpay. In any event, now that this deal is complete it makes sense for all parties and no one got screwed.

I don’t think the C’s are done. Probably trade Hauser next. They appear to want to get into this draft for another young piece or two.

Update: they also have the 36th (if its not got traded in this deal).

Yeah, Brooklyn almost has to make some trades soon.

They also own 36. Six out of the first 36. Lol

They have the roster room to add all these guys and then and a few vet mins but seems unlikely. I assume they will be sitting by the phone and saying any of the later firsts are obtainable for any future first and try to stockpile for a guy next off-season.

Renting cap space is very expensive. Brooklyn might get 2 or more first round picks for their services lol. Atlanta also has a nice tpe from the murray trade, but that expires early July.
This is bad news for Suns, but who the hell knows what they are doing there. I think it' might take all the 2nd round picks they have just to get rid of Allen.

It's the end of the year when penalties are calculated.

The problem for waiting until the trade deadline is that with everyone having to hit the salary floor by opening day, it's harder to find teams that can just absorb salaries. Brooklyn was able to take 15.5 million for Mann's contract because they have so much salary cap space right now which is what allowed the Celts to save so much money in this deal. That's usually much harder to do at the trade deadline to find a team that could absorb such a big contract. So they could get more player value, but less cap relief, and they really needed the cap relief.

Celtics kind of doing smart things , I doubt Kristaps , Jrue will be any good in 2027 due to age and injuries , Big Al is next I assume

He's missing all of next season, that's what this signals.

So? He’s back in 2 years. With the assets they got, how exactly are Boston putting a team that can contend out there?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

1. who gives a f about ratings? If some casual fan doesn't like a 7 game finals with 2 young teams just because they play in fly over states, cool. The tv contract is still wet.
2. Boston wouldn't have broken up if they thought they could still contend.

Denver was really the first causality when they had to let Bruce Brown, and then KCP go. Pretty much every trade since then, except the Durant trade, have been for financial reasons. It's been a few years now, I really don't know why people are so slow to catch on. It's all about the money now.

Knew this was coming eventually. Celtics payroll is crazy. 145 mil next year just between Tatum/Brown/White.

Jrue and Kristaps are slated to make ~62 mi between them next year.
