I would not do the initial deal. Jordan Farmar is a deal breaker.
Since the Nets are the ones in a position to deal from desperation, I'd tell them we'd give them Odom, the grizzlies second rounder and a resigned Shammond Williams for Carter. I'd also remind them that that is more than they paid for Carter in their original trade.
The reason I'd do it is because Lamar can't shoot and Kobe Bryant is far far far more efficient as a SF than he is as a SG. Vince is a superb 3 ball shooter and has athleticism to thrive is the quick pass Laker offense.
The reason I'd do it financially is that Lamar is going to be asking for 14 mil PER after his current deal is up to resign. Either we get Carter or we'll be looking for someone similar in the near future.
Of course, I'm not going to lose sleep over it and I'm almost certain the Lakers will not trade farmar in ANY deal.
Edit:I might also give em Walton. If building around RJ is their thing, then Walton might be attractive to them and his contract stinks.

I'd rather go for someone like Battier, Prince, Artest, Marion etc. than someone like Carter if we were to move Odom and any of those are available. Artest would be really nice.
If we were to get a shooter, I'd look for Mike Miller (MEM doesn't want Odom though, so it would have to be a 3-way) instead.
Carter is a good player, but I have questions about the fit. I don't have those same questions regarding any of the other players I mentioned in this post.

Getting a Back up PG is not as heard as finding a superstar player with great scoring and passing skills, when you have Kobe, Fisher and Vince you will not need a back up PG as much as you think even though if they get carter it would be something they want to address and then pg does not have to be super great.

They'd have to sign one, and the best FA on the market is Gary Payton, who didn't exactly work out in LA last time.
How many new players do you went them to break in at once? Christ.

I don't even think he and Kobe like one another.
That's not true on the court they may seem to go at each other but they are really cool with each other. Also Vince would allow things to be easier for kobe, he would play with in the system as he is in NJ and allow Kobe to still be the man his ast numbers would look nasty on this laker team and he would still get his 20+ 5 boards a game all in the system so I know he can play and fit with kobe better then Odom.

I've already responded to this in my original post. I have a question for you - when's the last time you actually watched Carter play?LakerFanMan wrote:^^^ What about VC's game makes you think he'd fit well with kobe? Is it when he runs ISO? Or is it when he dribbles around for 15 seconds while he's running ISO?
Some of the misconceptions about his play is ridiculous. Most of them are coming from you.
