So playing the defending champions (who defeated you) on your home court doesn't pschologically rev up a team moreso than the defending champions who are on a road trip? In December? hmmm, guess we see it differently

It's a new season. These aren't the Boston Celtic 2009 champions. They have to prove that it wasn't a fluke that they beat the Lakers when they weren't at full stregnth. Or they can say that they want to send a message to the league that they are the best team. Say whatever you want to.

But to spin this loss as it being more important to the Lakers than it was to the Celtics is a copout. Why play the game if it isn't important. The Celtics should have saved their energy and then maybe they wouldn't have lost to the Warriors the next night......

I'll agree with that. They traded away half of their roster for 2 stars and a draft pick, while the Lakers never did that. It puts the trades in a completely different perspective. It makes the Garnett trade much less lopsided than people claim.

Lets not kid ourself, the ready made team the team that was built around P.P had to win last year (After 20 years).
The Lakers on the other hand were suppose to be without Kobe since he demanded trade in the off season.
Yet they made it to the Finals with getting Pau in the mid season and being without Bynum since midseason and the finals.
The Cs barley beat the Hawks, and they had a hard time in the Playoffs.
Then they play the Lakers and lets not go back in history can bring up all the bad calls from game 2 and the finals how the Lakers got jerked by the reffs.
So and overrated Cs beat the underrated Lakers that werent even suppose to make it to the playoffs.
Okay I can dig that.
But then again that was last year and this is a new year.
So if were talking about this year, then Yes the Cs got man handled in LA, and that happened recently, like last week.
Lets wait for the Feb game at the garden and see what happens between these two teams again.
But I just love the fact that everyone keeps talking about last year, and how the Cs didnt care about the Chrsitmas game against the Lakers.
Okay lets say they didnt, but what about the G.S.W game or the Portalnd game?
They must have not cared about those games either.

What does that have to do with anything? It's funny how the Knicks haven't won in a longer time period and few people mention that.

If you think those games meant the same for each team...you're just a Laker fan, really. I mean, it's no excuse, but obviously the Lakers wanted it more.

the Lakers obviously wanted it and needed it more, they were going through a bad streak of games, several losses and not convincing wins against teams they should have beaten. But you're just fooling yourself if you say the game didn't mean anything to the Celts, so please stop it with that BS cuz even Pierce was quoted saying "YOU NEVER WANNA LOSE TO THE LAKERS". Oh and it wasn't just another game for the Celtics fans either, since in their previous game were chanting "BEAT LA" before the final buzzer had even sounded.

Both are great teams, I bet me and everybody is looking forward to it

This isnt directed to you in general, but statements like so and so wanted it more or so and so didnt care since its just another game is actually pretty patethic since this game is about winning.
How can you and others sit here and claim that this game means nothing.
A. Ever team is looking to stay on top of their Conf.
B. Home court advantage.
C. Both Conf. are very close.
D. When 2 team that have met each other in the Finals are top of their conf. and possibly might meet each other again in the finals, you cant tell me that they dont care about that game.
E. Statement games are always a good way of sending a message to other teams and that team in general.
F. Confidence builder that prep you for the next meeting or the playoffs or the finals.

So overall its patethic for someone (Not You) Cs fan to down play that this game didnt mean much to the Cs, cause it did.

Also why sit there and downplay the game when everytime some body brings up the Cs and Lakers, everyone always brings up what happened to the Lakers in the finals last year?
Well this is a new year and we can always sit there and analyze what happend last year, but let see what happened Christmas game............... Nothing cause the Cs didnt care about the Christmas game.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh Okay........... What about the G.S.W game when they had half of their starters injured, or better yet the Trail Blazers game, when they got man handled by a bunch of young rookies without their leading starter.
Ya they dont care about those games either haaa?
I bet you they care now.

You can say that winning the finals meant more to the Celtics than the Lakers since Ainge traded the Celtics future to win now. The Lakers will be a contender long after this mini Celtic run.

I mean since you are looking for excuses.

Or lets just cut the crap and say you either win or you lose and no one cares about excuses.......

No ish.
Its like when they lose they didnt want it, but when they win thats all they talk about.
Every single post a Cs fan makes it always has the same crap about their title last year.
No matter what you post about the Cs, their only response is well were the champs.

I actually said way, way before the game, on a thread here, that the game wasn't really that big and it was going to be overhyped by whichever team who won's fans.

But when someone says the games a bigger for the Lakers than it was the Celtics...that's true. Only Laker fans would disagree.

Do you believe this? The future is now and Boston has won 1 championship due to the trades and will likely win more. Some teams dont even have 1 championship. All Boston traded was a bunch of pieces that probably would never win anything.

Okayyyyy, you know what your RIGHT????
This game ment nothing. Specailly since it was the highest rating in 4 years.
The Cs board on Christmas day by the time the game ended well over 290 Replies 5000 + Views, they even started threads on why the Lakers beat us with 112 Replies 3465, and thats not counting all the other threads they opened up complaining and coming up with their version of NBA Conspiracy about Stern fixing the Christmas games so that the Finals will be between the Lakers and the Cavs..............
Sure brahh, they didnt care about that game............

I would rather have somebody man up and say ...... Props that was a good game or the better team won, than sitting on a board and complaining about everything and at the end saying OH THAT GAME MENT NOTHING..............
Obviosuly it did, if all your doing is crying, compalining and coming up with every excuse you can come up with and at the same time denying you care about it.
Bunch of Hypocrites............ I swear.
