Shoulder height is the most important thing. You don't play with your head anyways. Some guys are 'taller' because they have long necks. It's why a 6'8 Elton Brand can get 2bpg. He has the body of a 6'10 guy but he has a short neck.

So true. I noticed that ppl are proportioned very different from each other. That's why there is such a big difference in somebody's standing reach and wingspan vs their height.
Somebody really high shoulders like Kevin Mchale, Shawn Marion, and Phil Jackson with long arms would play much taller than their height suggests.



7,4" Mark Eaton is another example. His standing reach probably higher than 7,5" Yao Ming's because Eaton has high shoulders and long arms (unlike Yao).

Now this 7,4" (Shagari Alleyne) has length! His wingspan is 8 feet and he has pretty much no neck and very high shoulders (although he does have a long head his shoulder height is higher than average for his height and probably the same height as Yao's).

Just by going over a lot of the combine results. It appears that black people on average have longer arms than white guys. In fact by looking at measurements you can almost pick the white guys out just by looking at their height to wingspan ratio.

So true...just by looking at black and white ppl, black ppl usually have longer arms compared to their height. Asians tend to have the stubbiest arms compared to their height. Which is why Yao's wingspan is actually less than his height (coupled with the fact he also has relatively narrow shoulders).

I know. I wasn't as impressed by his height as much as insane wingspan and length. He's got freakishly long arms for his height. But he even pales in comparison to 7,7" Kenny George who has an 8-5 wingspan...dude just watch that guy block shots

He doesn't even have to jump at all to block shots and more importantly dunk. He's swatting away shots like King Kong swatting away planes on the Empire States building. All he has to do block shots is wave his arms around. When got dunked on by Pyscho T, he raised his arms up and he was touching the rim while standing flatfooted!
