Greg Oden will undergo surgery to repair fractured left patella. LIKELY OUT FOR THE SEASON.

This really really sucks. I met him over the summer and he said that he was doing great and that he was finally feeling fully recovered from his previous injuries. He spent the summer at osu and I worked on campus. This is just horrible, I feel really bad for the guy he just can't catch a break from all these injuries.

Damn that sucks so badly.

On one hand he's only 21 and he's got time to recover, but really how many injuries like that can he take.

Ooh, surgery. Not good.

If you look at the slow mo replay, it actually looks like the contact with Brooks didn't cause it. He grabs the leg/knee that didn't seem to get hit.

Yeah, bad news, he's a good kid, and was just coming around. Can't catch a break.

I don't really see any chance at someone coming back this season after a fractured kneecap.

On the brighter side it doesn't seem like they have announced any torn ligaments.

That sucks d1ck. We didnt even get to see him match up against Bynum, Howard, Bogut etc. this season... People arent talking ish and calling him a bust like his rookie year because now he has actually shown a good bit of potential on the NBA level and shown that he can be an elite rebounder and defender... Sucks for NBA fans. hopefully he can make a full recovery and continue to improve

Fractured patella, ouch. Whats the most likely timetable of recovery on such injuries. Might actually be better than Bynum's injury since for the longest time we didnt know wtf was wrong with him. With this its pretty obvious whats wrong so they can start fixing him up right from the start.

He fractured his patella just from jumping in the air without contact? Damn, he really is made of glass.

Could be that this happened:

"Patella fractures can also occur when the quadriceps muscle is contracting but the knee joint is straightening (a so-called 'eccentric contraction'). When the muscle pulls in this manner, the patella can fracture."
"Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!" - Kevin Durant
