Vancouver would be dope. That city is surrounded by mountains. Beautiful scenery. Canada needs another team.

Re: NBA Expansion
I'm not going to research anything but based on my visits to various cities I think this is misleading. Perhaps it is the difference between population within city limits and in the metropolitan area, I suspect the key stat is population in the TV market.
note: be careful relying on Wikipedia. the all time Pacer roster had my son listed at wearing #11. he entered that himself.

You only move one team to the East to make it 16/16, and that team should be Minnesota.
Btw, I would be floored if it wasn’t Seattle and Vegas at this point.
Agreed. As cool as it'd be to see a team back in Vancouver, Vegas is the NBA gold mine. Not to mention, there's a better chance players would want to play there.

I'm against expansion, but it's happening. Seattle and Vancouver would be best. Canada does need another team.
Then move two teams like Minnesota and Memphis to the East to balance the conferences.

I don't think they add both Seattle and Vancouver due to the fact they are in close proximity.
I think Las Vegas is a lock to get a franchise and Seattle/Vancouver will battle for that 2nd spot.

I would much rather Vancouver get a team than Vegas. Vegas is just a resort posing as a city.

Vegas is dope.
For a millionaire it's literally the perfect location. Gambling and Nightlife. Most importantly only a few hour drive to LA. That's a millionaire's dream. My only complaint is the weather. It can get hot in the desert.

I think that is the main problem personally. I do believe it'll be Vegas and Seattle but would much rather see 3 things happen:
1) Seattle and Vancouver get the 2 teams
2) Do away with conferences, just make 4 - 8 team divisions, top 16 teams make the playoffs.
3) Las Vegas becomes the NBA Headquarters, basically every All-Star Break, every Draft, every Summer League, the IST semis and championship played in Vegas, etc (this would capitalize on all 3 markets of Vancouver, Seattle and Vegas)

Re: NBA Expansion
Why would you put 2 teams in basically the same location? Seattle to Vegas is only a few hours apart.ChiTownHero1992 wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:LakerLegend wrote:I would much rather Vancouver get a team than Vegas. Vegas is just a resort posing as a city.

Wouldn’t balance the conferences cuz then you’d have 15 in the west and 17 in the east

Oh I agree, it would be stupid to add both at the same time, which is why it won't be Vancouver and Seattle. But I think both places do deserve a team, personally I think moving a team would make more sense, why does California need 12,000 teams all within a few hours of each other? Move the Kings to Vancouver, add Seattle, add Vegas, spread the basketball out just a notch, heck a Kansas City team would be appropriate, trying to hit the areas that don't have anyone to root for.

Re: NBA Expansion
The lack of atmosphere at in season tournament NBA cup finals at Vegas has really put me off LV as a expansion city.
I like the ideas of Vancouver, St Louis, Kansas City etc
Mexico will get its own team eventually one day

I agree move Sacramento to Vancouver

Re: NBA Expansion
It’s going to be Seattle & Las Vegas then there won’t be any more expansion for a long time. Vancouver is too close to Seattle, failed previously as an NBA market, and I imagine would have far fewer bidders willing to pay that expansion fee. Other places like KC, Louisville, Hampton Roads probably want teams but would need relocation. Mexico City isn’t happening in so long it’s not worth talking about.

Re: NBA Expansion
Vancouver isn't actually that close to Seattle compared to how close the East Coast cities are to each other. Also who cares, NY & LA both have 2 teams in the same city. The Canadian market is completely different than the US market. Canadians from BC could care less about the Sonics. They are more likely to be Raptors fans.

Re: NBA Expansion
Am I right to a remember a team once splitting home games between St Louis and Kansas City? Could Seattle and Vancouver have a shared team?
I wonder if streaming is changing the importance of TV market size. Teams don't share their local TV revenue which has made it more important than seat sales for big markets.

Why would you put NBA headquarters in a city where none of the entities the NBA does business with are located?

I said it's a resort posing as a city, nothing you said contradicts that.
