Look at the 36 likes this post received. People are saying it's too early to bump this yet someone seriously started a thread about the Celtics being exposed on Oct. 7? GTFOH haters and trolls.

It has been extremely under reported exactly what they lost outside of Kyrie....

-They had 3 bigs who could defend, and in horfords case at an extremely high level (Horford, morris, baynes).
-Those 3 bigs also stretched the floor. Morris and Horford are 2 guys you can space the floor with without going small.
-They lost NBA calibur depth. Maybe a young guy steps up, but right now they really only go 7 deep with nba players. and when we talk about depth, its not just the bench playing well, its having nba level players to step in and start when injuries happen

Another all star take. Can't hide.

Early returns look good. but the first 2 weeks of an nba season are a small sample size and typically the most variable. I will say that they missed brown and were able to sustain a high level play, which helps speak to criticisms on depth.

I still think depth and front court are concerns, although with Kanter out they may have realized going small at the 5 or going D over offense there benefits them and Kanter remains a cheerleader.

no one is hiding. and i didnt start this thread... i was also the one who said that basing anything on the opening night philly game is riddiculous.

I'd rather play the Knicks every night. Every year, decade etc. for that matter

Damn, bro chill hahha

Anywho I do understand us losing Horfie is a big deal. The guy is a budget version of Duncan, he really is, but our defense was always good and Irving as good as he is, freezes up plays at the end of games and that type of play doesnt suit Brads system. Looks much better so far. Im enjoying myself, tbh. Hayward looks spectacular, watching him run the offense is just beautiful.
Good assessment:

Love it. Keep trying to save face, guy.

You’re the same poster that was calling out Boston fans 2-3? weeks ago saying you’d put $ on Boston finishing around the 8th seed or worse. Either own it, or stop humiliating yourself on here.

Going to pump the brakes on excitement... they have a road stretch of PHX, LAC and DEN which should all be pretty tough and should be a decent test early in the season.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Easy schedule so far ( I mean you got face the Knicks twice already!).

But big win against the Bucks and you're looking better than I thought. Can you tell Tatum to not **** ing lose me FG% category in the first day of the damn week? Please and thanks.

Bucks, Spurs, Mavs, Raps... All solid teams. Schedule gets a little tougher soon enough though.

Considering it was started after we won (not by enough apparently) our first preseason game I think we need to change "classic" to "prototypical".

A good team must take care of bad teams.

My Heat has played 6 out of 9 games on the road including 2 away back to backs. First was winning vs the Bucks on the first night, then losing to Minnesota without Butler. The second was winning at Phoenix then losing against the Lakers. I’m not going to mention injuries as all teams have them, specially the Celtics.

I’m really surprised at the Heat 6-3 record considering all that, but like the Celtics, they must take care of teams they should beat.

This thread has quickly become one of the worst ever started on realgm. Based on an exhibition game no less.

Tatum lays an egg - historically bad shooting 1-18. Hayward out with injury. Celtics still cruise past a pretty good Dallas team that gets MVP performance from the best young player in NBA. I think the Celtics are for real. Playoffs may be a different story without a top 10 player and a weak front court. But I think a Nash like Suns or Horford led Hawks regular season with 55-60 wins is actually possible.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
