Star Players' Load Management Era has begun thks to Kawhi.

Not throwing shade @ the well-deserved Raptors championship but Warriors had been from game 1 of the regular season up to the finals for like 3 seasons now. a little load management wouldve done wonders for them at the home stretch.

The only downside with this load mgmt for the fans is that it'll suck watching a live game when the star player is taking a day-off.

It was mentioned during the finals that during there 5 year run, they had played an additional 120+ games, which is basically playing an additional season and than some within that 5 year span.

Look at the toll one playoff run has taken on our players, gotta give the Warriors (and Lebron) huge props for being able to do this year in year out.

To address load management, if teams feel like they can still capable of earning a top seed (or for some teams just making the playoffs) by giving players days off, than all the power to them. The Raptors were in a unique situation in that the team minus Leonard has been a core that knows how to play winning basketball together for years now. I will be interested in seeing which teams can emulate this Raptors model which was inspired originally by the Spurs.

I actually disagree. Kawhi has a long-term medical issue. The League would absolutely start fining teams if the star player is sitting out uninjured.

Which is another issue on it's own but you're correct. You sit out a healthy Westbrook for 20 games just because Kawhi got it and i'm sure Silver won't be so cool with it.

I never thought I would see the Raptors win the championship in my life time. I was always of the conspiratorial view that the NBA (29 US-based teams and one non-US one) would never "allow" a non-US team to win the championship due to low ratings. I have taken off my tin-foil hat.

I don't care what happens to the team now -- i.e., Kawhi leaves, Gasol leaves, Green not re-signed, and we rebuild (fully or on-the-fly). I will be a happy man for a long, long time.
I acknowledge and thank the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations for allowing me to live, work and play on their unceded traditional territories.
