These are long, but they are great interviews with leading experts about the pandemic. The expert in the above interview is a professor at Yale who studies pandemics, along with a great number of other medical topics judging by the title of his position. This interview focuses on the potential severity compared to past pandemics, as well as the likely future of the pandemic in the summer and fall.

In terms of severity, the pandemic compares to the 1957 flu pandemic. As for the future, it sounds like we'll probably see a second wave in the fall that may impact the election.

Crazy people do crazy things, not logical ones.

Can you imagine if this were a really deadly virus (e.g., 50/50 or less chances of survival for all ages)? The veneer of the social contract would be gone. Infected people might take revenge on others, etc.

You'd have to have a mental illness but not enough money to get the support you need so you're chilling in the workforce until something like this triggers something.

The mental health aspects of the isolation, the media panic and the stress it puts on people that still have to work is going to have a whole host of consequences.

There are wackjobs who think Fauci funded the virus. By the way, the reporter Chanel Rion, is part of the white house press corps. She's asked Trump questions during his recent press conferences on the virus.

On March 14 and 15, pro-Trump cable news network OAN aired a coronavirus special called Exposing China's Coronavirus: The Fears, The Lies and The Unknown. During that program, the network’s chief White House correspondent, Chanel Rion, suggested that the novel coronavirus responsible for the current pandemic may have originated in a North Carolina laboratory.

As support, Rion cited Greg Rubini, whom she described in the special as “a citizen investigator and monitored source amongst a certain set in the D.C. intelligence community.”

There is no evidence that Rubini is a “monitored source” for anyone but Rion. He has pushed wild “deep state” conspiracy theories on Twitter, where he has over 100,000 followers.

Rubini has said that the novel coronavirus “was GENETICALLY ENGINEERED as a Bio-Weapon at the Univ. of North Carolina BSL-3 Lab.” He has also said that it was spread from North Carolina to China, Italy, and elsewhere in the United States by the “Deep State” in a plot “to destroy the Trump economy.” In addition, Rubini suggested that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the well-respected head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, personally funded the production of the virus, even calling him “Little Tony Fauci.”

According to the article a lot of Trump-supporting far right outlets think he’s part of the ‘deep state’. The gateway pundit for example has White House press credentials and peddled a conspiracy theory about Fauci being a Hilary stooge.

The guy is getting up and telling bald face lies to make Trump look better so he can keep his job and try to save more lives. It sucks that he has to do it - but I admire him for being willing to

Florida barely testing? Our confirmed cases have been growing each day between 4000 to 10,000.

- No air condition, no matter how hot the nights got.
- Changed my sheets & pillow cases often, cleaned the entire house 3 times for the weak. Where my symptoms lasted roughly 2 weeks.

Yes being out in the hot sun is one of the best things we can do whether healthy or sick along with rest/sleep. Hot tea and Hot soup as well. The worst thing to do is to stay inside all day with doors/ windows closed with AC/heat on.

It's been getting better - but still not nearly enough. I know several people who badly need to get tested there and can't. One woman my wife knows can't care for her down syndrome child because she's unable to get tested

It seems like the number of new daily cases has stabilized to around 100 per day, which is far less than 900 per day from a month ago. And most of the businesses are open and people are returning to normalcy (albeit, most people are still wearing masks). To be more accurate, things have been returning back to normal for about 7-10 days and yet, coronavirus does not seem to be surging, as I am hopeful that it is contained. Early concerns from the society as a whole + clear message from the government and everyone abiding + masks + social distancing from early on + numerous testing + cheap healthcare + culture, all contributed to I suppose being one of the model case on combating a pandemic.

Things I noticed today from bing.com/covid

1. Big jump in USA recoveries from 6913 last night to 8878 currently and if things go well the USA can reach 10,000 recovered on Thursday.
2. California and Michigan are bound to reach 10,000 confirmed cases on Thursday
3. Hopefully Florida doesn't reach 10,000 confirmed cases
4. New York is bound to reach 100,000 confirmed cases on Friday
5. Florida still has 0 recoveries
