Not when there's already a team in Memphis.

Memphis is kinda its own thing consisting of Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee fans on the West side of the state a full 3 hour drive from Nashville. Nashville has a lot of money and interest. They already support an NFL, NHL, and MLS teams.

Which is why they had an ABA team named the TAMs for the 3 states.

Just to make things interesting, I would consider Louisville. Yes they'd be taking a chance but the NBA has taken chances many times when choosing expansion or relocation cities.

Ideally, Tennessee's NBA team would be in Nashville but the NBA isn't putting two teams in Tennessee. The economic benefit isn't there.

The fact there's a team in TN at all is as big a surprise as any. I get they have an NFL team and all, but there's far bigger markets to have those in. And they're definitely NOT putting another team there.

31 teams with Seattle.

Reformat the NBA Cup into NBA International Series / NBA America Series. Every team plays 40 home games, and the 41st at an international venue such as Paris or Mexico City, or neutral site such as Las Vegas NV, Austin TX, etc.

This is why I'll forever adopt a "believe it when I see it" mentality with a possible NBA expansion. Apparently James Dolan is one of the ringleaders against it. Scumbag through and through.

Just move the Pelicans to Seattle. Why is this taking so long?

Why? If the owners don’t want to move and the fans don’t want it to relocate, why are we demanding a team to move to a different state? The fans want a more competent front office, not to see their team leave. If the people in Seattle didn’t like that, why should we do it to those in New Orleans?

That won't happen as long as Gayle Benson is alive. She is 78 years old.

Seems like the obvious relocation choice if expansion is off the table.

If Vegas wants a team then relocate the Kings, they already took the A's and Raiders.

As the age of this thread shows we've been talking about expansion being on the horizon for almost a decade now (not just RealGM but basketball fans in general). Every offseason there's some new "news" that seems to indicate that some progress is being made on it, and it still hasn't happened. What's the hold up? Are they gonna do it or not? Feel bad for Seattle fans who have been led to believe that the Sonics are coming back any minute now

money. which is bigger in the long run, the current owners' split of the entry fee or their reduced share of the TV revenue?

Absolutely not. Seattle doesn't want another city's franchise. It's either a NEW team or none at all and we're fine with that.

The Seattle group (NHL owners) have made it known that expansion is the end goal. They're not looking to buy & move a team. The NBA can keep dragging its feet on expansion, but there won't be a relocation.
