Also fallen into the YouTube rabbit hole a few times.

Exercising is definitely good. And yeah YouTube can be pretty addictive if you're not careful.

I might have to check out the Lego thing, it actually sounds interesting. I might get a Jenga set as well. It sounds kinda lame but at least it'll give me something to do in the meantime.

I actually was looking for stuff like that too tbh, but couldn't find it. Would recommend the Lego Creator Expert sets, they have some good ones (I built the James Bond Aston Martin and that was cool, along with some buildings). Their site or Amazon usually are the best prices, bigger sets are $150+, but if you've got time it's worth it for me.

That actually sounds badass, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

HotRocks34 wrote:USA testing has increased about 10x over the last week according to this chart:
https://covidtracking.com/us-daily/

Tests done from March 10-11 -----------> about 2,800
Tests done from March 17-18 ----------> about 22,000

As I said earlier, solid start. Hoping we can get to minimum 50,000 per day and would be a lot happier with around 100,000 per day.

This site gives a rough overview of how many tests each nation has done to this point. Note: Some of the data is outdated (like China). But still gives some sense of comparison. I don't know if this site updates or it's just a one-time data drop. This information was put out yesterday:

https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/covid-19-tests-country

China -------------------> 320,000 tests (may have slowed dramatically as virus seems handled there)
South Korea ------------> 286,000 tests (now about 308,000)
Italy ---------------------> 148,000
UAE ----------------------> 125,000
Kuwait -------------------> 120,000*
Russia -------------------> 116,000
UK --------------------------> 50,000
USA -------------------------> 41,000 (now 76,000+)
Canada ---------------------> 38,000

So, the USA has a long way to go to catch up to some of these other nations. Hopefully it can happen soon, and we can get a real grip on this thing.

* Kuwait data from here:

Do you know which test kits they're using? Is it the Roche tests?

This is a tangent, but the stock crash is leading people to withdraw from funds and run on banks.

It's a small study, needs to be tested more, but they basically used HCQ with azithromycin (the drug in "zpak")

It's hopeful but definitely need more studies. We know the Chinese and koreans are using HCQ. It definitely seems to work.

I remember using Rosetta Stone a few years ago to learn Russian (just a random language I chose), but I stopped for some reason. I guess now would be a good time to start again.

You guys gotta stop the DNA/Source fallacy. Read the dang content, who cares who is saying it. You rob yourself of an absurd level of knowledge by only listening to those you agree with.

This explains why China used antibiotics too! I have been questioning why they did it for a virus. They are combining the Malaria drug with Z pack!! Since both are FDA approved already they can IMMEDIATELY prescribe this rather than wait for vaccines

Working from home, thankfully, for now.

Oh and pets help.

That's true. I used to have a cat but she died due to a heart tumor a while back. I had her for 7 years, can't get myself to adopt a new pet anytime soon. It definitely would help though.

We're lucky we get to work from home. A lot of people don't have that luxury. I'm just going a little crazy being at home 24/7, lol.

I'm doing surprisingly okay at home. I mainly wish it was warmer to get out more.

Still warm in Australia so I went for a surf this morning as it’s easy to stay well away from people

Winter will be tougher for kids

HCQ+Zpack. Wonder what the antibiotic is doing to harm the virus? Both are FDA approved. They should immediately start huge scale tests. A cure/treatment is as important as a vaccine, if not more.

It's too early for that. This study has it flaws (which given where we are is understandable). For example, They excluded like 6 patients from the results who ended up going to ICU.
As far as the azithromycin : the theory is it has anti viral effects on certain cells in the lung

We need more studies obviously . But the more important thing would be how we operationalize this treatment on a national level.

I do agree on mass producing HCQ, it is obviously part of the solution

I meant I'd accelerate this into testing IMMEDIATELY. It's promising enough to throw money into, quickly.

This guy is jumping the gun and needs to calm down

1) these two drugs are already fda approved and could be used off label without the president having to do anything . Drugs are used off label all the time
2) this study has serious limitations that we cannot gloss over

Is it promising ? Yes
But we need data points

Washington State was the first with a big outbreak and they're also the first state to have a decrease in new cases the last few days. Encouraging stuff.

Biggest problem is sample size. Still peer reviewed, still good test methods. The only issue now is how does it hold up vs larger sample group. I agree he probably overhyped it. Still in a time like this, it's the best news you can get.
