The NBA doesn't really have any history of non-Western players being the face of the league. Whether you're talking about Dr J, Larry Bird, Magic, Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Kobe, Lebron, Curry.

Dirk, Hakeem, even with MVP's never reached that level. Wemby might just because he's a walking highlight reel. Maybe if Europe produced someone who played with that same type of flair/aesthetic, it would happen.

But it's not just non western, it extends to non Americans.
