the problem is there is no motivation to make it better...

its a marketing and commercial event. teams dont want there guys to go and if they do go they dont want them getting hurt. then you have a league in a period without any real super competitive guys like a kobe. stars dont want to be in it because there is no money in it and they are scared of getting clowned on twitter (not really an issue 2000 and earlier).

we need things to align right... there needs to be a guy who is a top10 dunker who is also a top 10 player who wants to go out and do something sick and beat people. and we need it in like MSG with a production crew who knows how set the stage and lighting so it doesnt feel like a ymca on sunday morning

The main problem is the stars don't do these any more. I mean you had Jordan, Dominique, Carter, Kobe, etc doing the dunk contest.

The dunk contest is always the worst of the 3 for me.

I want good dunks over big names. Last year's was one of the best ever and didn't have a single allstar

I just hope AG didn't re-injure his foot.

That would literally be the nail in the coffin for this season.

True. but last year is even better with more attention and an amped crowd. you need both. obviously dunks are #1

but this year we had no names and horrible dunks

Probably should have, haven't paid very close attention to the NCAA. What do you think of Fultz?

I haven't watched him enough, but I do have this concern:\

Ainge has an interesting theory that the high school studs usually turn out to be great even if they don't do great in college.

Nah I dont buy that.... we hear this everytime there is a bad dunk contest and then a year or two later you have guys doing dunks going under both legs. you see the creativity with these amateur dunkers. there is still dunks left to be done.

agree on the first attempt. in fact i think it should go back to you get 3 dunks and 1 attempt per dunk. top 2 dunks count

Oh, if you misunderstood, I didn't mention I wanted to see bad dunks from stars. Those guys had great dunks, and they were not as nervous as many of those guys, so they usually didn't do anything.

I think Westbrook, LeBron, Kawhi, and I'm sure many others could probably dunk well. Maybe not.

you just cant make this up :D

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/why-carmelo-anthonys-10th-trip-to-the-all-star-game-is-kind-of-a-downer-224713556.html

“Honestly, it was more like a downer, because I had to cancel my trip and there’s no refund,” Anthony said during the Eastern All-Stars’ media session at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. “So I can’t get my refund back.”

No there is really not. How many between the legs dunks do you need to see over 3 people to realize they are running out of ideas/creativity. I mean we introduced props. There was a stupid drone and hoverboards droping balls now and it still all comes down to the same thing.

Did you do it on the first attempt.

Every dunk now is stale because of physical limitations.

Worked for Myles Turner. I very much appreciate his mediocre college season that helped him drop to us in the draft.
