a 6'5 Lillard basically... he's going to be a star this Mr.Mitchell

Actually he is 6'3" in shoes, but 6'1" barefoot. If he was only 6'5", that would awesome.

Because you've been reading this thread...

He's averaging 22.3 on 58% TS since the start of December.

Someone didn't watch the highlights! Not sure how as a basketball fan you wouldn't be excited to see a promising young player flashing a pretty promising skillset a 7'1 player

He looks good, definitely needs more time in the G league but he could be a game changer eventually. His ability to switch on wing players and defend the PNR will really dictate if he's gonna have a successful NBA career.

D League stats don't always tell the full story though, especially PER 36; a flawed measure that assumes a big mans per minute production won't drop with increased minutes.

He actually just got called up. His production increased with more minutes as he shook off some of the rust from his injury too! But, I do agree with you especially about G-League stats...the excitement and hype is more about the eye test and the types of plays that Patton was making and the skillset on both ends Patton was flashing more-so than any numbers!

Everyone keeps talking about Simmons, but Mitchell is playing the best basketball right now and his team is actually winning consistently in the loaded West, unlike the Sixers. He's been ballin' out lately and it's been fun to watch from afar.

Bummer that the mods merged the Patton thread into the rookie thread but leave the Osman thread on the main page. I put a decent amount of effort into that post and Patton discussion will largely be lost and confused with the Mitchell/Simmons/Tatum/Kuzma discussion that the larger rookie thread is at this point in the year because of their rookie success and ROY contention.

Sixers have the 5th best winning percentage (HOU, GS, TOR, IND, PHI [UTA]) with the 3rd best net rating (HOU, TOR, PHI) since the New Year. Jazz are on a lengthy win streak and are playing the best basketball in the league recently, but both teams have been playing winning basketball for a while, not sure it should separate either from the other.

For the season until this point the 76ers have played the toughest strength of schedule in the league (per bball-ref and ESPN).
14-12 against the West, 14-13 against the East. 8th best net rating.

You're absolutely right. The fact that he's in the G League means he'll never do anything noteworthy at the NBA level. The G League is reserved only for NBA failures like Hassan Whiteside, Rudy Gobert and Clint Capela.

Plenty of scrubs put up numbers there is the point,no need to get defensive its not like he's dominating, those are pretty average numbers, most decent prospect dominate

You name the 0.001% of players who actually make it from the g league. For every Whiteside there is 200 scrubs.

Putting up like 15/7 or something in the G League is actually very average .. most even bottom nba league players can put up 20 per game in the G League.

It's not just about the numbers. If you can't grasp that concept, there's no point going back and forth any further.

The Sixers (14-12) and Jazz (17-14) have similar records vs the West. The Sixers have the better record overall (28-25 to 28-28). SOS suggests that the Sixers have had the hardest schedule in the league thus far (the Jazz are third hardest).

If you want to argue that team success and team schedule difficulty are primary factors for your choice, that’s reasonable. However, those are points in Simmons’ favor, not Mitchell’s.
