2-2 with HCA is "on the ropes"?
Look, I'm happy to see the Hawks win as well, not only for the sake of entertaining basketball but because I'm a Pistons fan and would love to see them wind up with the easiest path to the Finals (not that I'd be disappointed in any way by a Detroit-Boston ECF, mind you), but let's try to keep it all in perspective.
Agreed. Boston is going home where they dominated the first two games. They aren't on the ropes.
BUT they suddenly will have a lot more doubt in their mind and Atlanta will have a lot more confidence. After the retribution promised for the Hawks daring to jaw with the Celtics in game 3, the Celtics came out strong and then had the game taken from them by Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and the Hawks. Even Horford struggling still piled up 13 rebounds.
This series is suddenly very interesting.

Something that hasn't been talked about much (I think TNT and/or ESPN did a bit) is the Celtics basically lacking a guy to guard quicker wing-players.. Posey and Pierce can defend, but they aren't quick enough, and Ray Allen overall just isn't enough as a defender.
Tony Allen can do it, but now he doesn't seem to be in the rotation really for some reason (health? rhythm?)... and regardless, in order for him to be most effective he has to be in for the latter portion of the game against that player. But that spot goes to Ray Allen, and thus can only use Tony Allen for portions before that, and for specific possessions on defense late in the game.

The reason the Hawks are succeeding is because they are getting production from a lot of different guys. Bibby was great in the first half. Josh Smith and JJ were fantastic throughout. Horford rocked the boards again. Childress was excellent. Lebron is much more of a one man army which doesn't work so well against good defensive teams.

To be quite honest. Raptors and Wiz are just soft teams. Philly and Atlanta are not.
That's true to an extent, but I believe it's all about matchups! The Celts have struggled with athletic wing players all season( ex. Wiz, Bobcats). . .but I admit i'm even surprised to see this series going back to Boston tied up @ 2

There is absolutely no denying that Atlanta has been the better team these last two games at home. But can they compete on the road? A win in Boston might flip the NBA universe upside down.
I think its just experience and maturity holding them back. JJ and Josh are looking like just the type of players to eat away at the weak spots in Boston's defense.
But more than likely, they will do themselves in on the road with mistakes unless they have suddenly grown a lot more than anyone could imagine in these 2 games.

Still, those characteristics were clear even before the series started. Despite that these results were not expected. Actually none of the results in the east is within the expected threshold, at the moment (and Boston and Detroit have already done what none expected to happen before the series).
Let's see whether Boston and Detroit recover from that, or repeat what Detroit had been doing the last few years.

Yeah. Cleveland's offensive drop off after LeBron is significant... been like that for a couple years now. Limited offensive team.

Will be interesting to see how the Celtics respond in these next few games.
I agree... and gives a good context of the series...
