Lebron isn’t getting any younger either.

As opposed to Ball & Ingram going down?

He just lost a damn near Michael Jordan clone for DeroZan bruhh..let him vent and throw shade its like step 3 of the grieving process

Just?

Huge difference between Lakers and Pelicans.

One has a microscope over it, scrutiny from every fan and every piece of media in the country. The other almost the opposite.

One has also gambled potential on a win now approach which very rarely works out.

I said it before Lebron played a single game for the Lakers, ‘they aren’t even a playoff lock’ and I will say the same now based on Davis’ injury history.

I hate the Lakers as much as the next person but expecting them to miss the playoffs next year is head in the sand stuff. And they still have 32m in cap space to use.

How?
The 4th pick might be a better asset than anything that was offered back in Feb? Kuzma is the only asset they didn't get from the Lakers.

They were already offering the pick in February...plus kuz and zubac ...they got less now.
Unprotected FRPs are gold if you haven't noticed by this year's lottery.

Pure value wise, Griffin pulled a heist. Taking into potential chips, that's up to the Lakers' fanbase.

Ingram seems like sort a hit or miss unless the blood clot causes him to be a different player on the court.

If he isn't healthy then he'll be forced to take a 1yr deal and/or be let go. If he healthy then he's probably worth a large contract in RFA. That sort of hit or miss should protect the Pelicans somewhat but it also raises the possibility they walk away completely from Ingram in a year or two years time.

Christ, the Lakers are now thin.

AD, an ageing LeBron, Kuzma, Bonga and Wagner with no picks for 6 years.

They will likely target another star.

Then its essentially minimum guys. Once Kuzma gets a raise its tax payer MLE only each year and no trade assets to find other routes

Cap space was possible they blew a golden opportunity not getting Jrue too. Jrue is an immensely better fit than Kyrie, Kemba or Jimmy, cheaper and they could get bird rights. Beal has always thought was a good fit, but I’d take Jrue at the price considering his defense (dude can guard 1-3), shooting, and ability to be a secondary ball handler. Probably the most ideal third option to that core and maybe the availability wasn’t easy but if they got him they’d be confavorites with the raps next year (assuming Kawahi is back)

How did they have an opportunity to get Holiday? The reason Kyrie, Kemba or Jimmy are mentioned is because they are UFA’s. Holiday is contracted for 2 more years.

Honestly i don’t know the intricacies of
The possibilities . I known they have cap soCe and picks can be traded with cap holds. So if one f those picks could be cap relief,
I’m just saying Jrue is honestly the ideal fit with those two

Ask the Knicks how their worst record turned out for them? Or the Cavaliers? or the Suns? They all fell multiple spots.

Exactly, which is why unprotected picks are amazing especially so far out...

They're lottery tickets. Nothing more. You love to have them, and they probably turn out to be far better trade chips than what they actually turn out to be.

I agree that he would be an excellent fit but he’s a great fit for a number of teams in the league who would have more to offer than LA. Pels could get a better deal elsewhere I would think.

Pels got a great deal but draft picks are overrated like hell on RealGm
When the Nets will grab Kyrie and be at the same level than Boston is, I hope people will see that.
The lakers drafted in the lottery for at least 5 years, and got no sure superstar, same for the Suns etc.
It's all about getting lucky...When LBJ retires they'll have AD + maybe another max that they would have signed this year, so there's a chance they could use cap space to fill the team.

Hah! Jokes on you... we have Alex Caruso and Jemario Jones!

also LA does actually have 3 picks over the next 6 years. NO gets 3 picks (#4, 2021 protected to 8th and 2024 unprotected, with an option to swap in 2023. Lakers still have 2020, 2021 or 2022, and also the worst of the two teams 2023 pick.

I think it should be noted this is pretty fair and Rob Pelinka did a good job, while getting an unprotected 2024 after the age of Bron is a win for Griffin.

Not sold on this trade.

AD is great but he's made of glass and can't stay healthy for a full season.

If they can't get a 3rd piece like Kemba, I don't see them as a legitimate contender unless Lebron reverts to his prime form.

The question is whether Lebron is declining or can still play at an MVP level.

Young Stapler wrote:Many of you said that the Lakers young guys were crap. If the Lakers had struck out in free agency along with not getting AD we wouldn't hear the end of the dumpster fire comments. The Lakers have put themselves in a position to win a title. Both teams win in this deal in the sense that their short term goals will be met. We don't know what will happen with the Pelicans picks but RIGHT NOW both teams get what they want.

Exactly, dudes laughing at lakers because they want them to fail. You can't just trade AD for nothing, dude is one of the best players in the league. Ingram has bloodcloths, lonzo is a big injury prone, that 4th pick is right outside of top 3 where the best talent is, but dudes acting like lakers gave up way too much. ALL these players combined won't equal to what AD brings to the table.

LeBron is ruining the Lakers. They should have never signed him, Kawhi Leonard would be much better option.

That many picks and swaps could come back to bite the Lakers in the ass, Pelicans got a kings ransom of picks for AD. Lakers are now in 0 excuses mode they need to have a hell of a playoff run next season.

I am eager to see how Lavar handles his golden boy going to New Orleans.
