Because it was all we ever heard. It was nauseating.

Advanced stats have its place but it's not the end all and be all.

Look we all objectively see the top 3 guys as Embiid Giannis and Jokic-

But I need to see the names of the guys that voted either Embiid or Jokic 4th…. At worse Embiid and jokic are in 3rd… at WORSE- this is crazy
Agreed

what Tim Bomtemps of ESPN did is just pure annoying.... it is like those media dudes who have nothing to do but incite all type narratives surrounding MVP votes, which really turned ugly last season... both Embiid and Jokic did not deserve all the media scrutinies ... polling every a couple months is just trolling, seriously? This is not president election! man...

What does team record have to do with it? Philly is a 3 seed in the East while having the easiest schedule.

Jokic stans last year would agree that team record is not important. What’s important, according to them, is the number of wins for the individual player, which currently stands at 18-10 for Jokic and 19-5 for Embiid.

Yet no one is arguing right now that Embiid is not the front runner. Most if not all agree he is in the lead for mvp

Half of these people don’t watch games either. They talk some wild stuff on their podcasts which makes it obvious.

He has led numerous times.

Led at all star break last season.

Previous to that led for the last straw poll two seasons in a row.

I said the first straw poll of the season. It wasn’t last year or the year before unless I missed something

It is plausible to have Jokic as low as 5th right now without being a full blown hater. He has had some poor games, gotten thrown out a couple of times (even if it isn't his fault), his efficiency has tanked and Denver have a worse record than Philly, Milwaukee, and OKC.

I have him 3rd right now personally.

Embiid has been putting up the work and they haven't missed a beat. Jokic down year all across the board. Giannis is looking great but I can't value him as high considering his supporting cast but he is definitely 2nd as of now. I don't think Jokic is top 3. Maybe not even top 5.

Jokic literally has the highest BPM of all-time this season, he's missed one game the entire year, and he has an on/off of +17.4 compared to +7.0 for Embiid. If you want to put Embiid higher due to this hot run he's had, I'm 100% fine with it, but if you say Jokic "isn't top 3 and maybe not even top 5", you either have no idea what you're talking about or you're trolling. He's still having a historic season.

Sample size.

Yeah Jokic could be as low as fifth however my rankings as of now, I'd have him third
1. Embiid
2. SGA
3. Jokic
4. Giannis
5. Luka

Do you mean he could finish top 5 or he is top 5? I hope you mean the former because no one is even thinking about him as an MVP or anything close to it after 2 games.

I’m not literally saying that he’s top 5 lol. He won’t play enough games to finish top 5 either. But I’m saying his impact and how Grizz have completely changed is top 5 level MVP impact

I don't really care about the MVP award, in fact I think it's not a particularly good award to get for a player if you value the postseason more as it's a very narrative driven award and in order to get it a player basically gets exhausted towards end of the regular season trying to put up monster numbers.

But you can make a case for SGA being 2nd right now if you like.

He's 2nd behind Embiid in EPM with the margin being not that big, with raw averages of 30.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 6.7 apg, 2.8 spg(which is kinda absurd), and 0.8 bpg.. His TS% is at 63% currently, which is pretty good for a guard.

He'll probably finish top 3 this season, which was my prediction before the start of the season, though I don't expect him to win it, and again, hopefully he won't. I'd like the team to rest him and fine tune him for the playoffs in the 2nd half of the season instead.
