Sixers Suspend Ben Simmons For One Game

I wonder what Thursday's practice will bring. If Ben is going the Jimmy Butler route he needs to play his ass off in practice and then play with zero effort in the actual games. Plus he needs to start doing media interviews with hand picked "journalists" to smear the franchise and throw everyone under the bus.

Jimmy Butler is irrelevant. Ben Simmons is the center of the universe, and does everything his own way. And nobody can predict him. They thought he returned for his money, nah, he returned for his mayhem, and nobody has a clue what that entails.

CJ + a pick or two for Ben was always a fair framework that would have benefitted both teams. But Morey got greedy and asked for 6 picks/swaps. . I think Covington was involved too, to boot. That's the kind of brazen greed that insults the GMs you're negotiating with and removes them from the table.

Dame has made it clear he isn't demanding a trade this season (in season at least), but if he does at some point and Simmons is still on the Sixers, I certainly hope so.

It makes no sense that anyone believes that if things go tits up in Portland, they won’t look to move CJ before they move Dame. CJ just put up 34,6,5 with 6 3s, 3 steals and 1 block. You mean to tell me that this guy wouldn’t make a nice back court rotation with Seth Curry and Maxey? Bingo. As I’ve been saying… CJ is wildly wildly wildly underrated on RealGM and it would seem real life as well. He would be a fantastic fit in Philly and a real threat to be an All Star over there. But the difference in talent between CJ and Simmons is not as vast as what Morey was asking for on top of CJ to make that move.

Morey was simply not negotiating out of good faith this summer or he was only willing to make deals where his team was a clear winner in the deal. Either way, he really **** up. While Portland never would have given up 6 picks… they most def would have done 2, if not 3 and maybe even 4 (2 picks and 2 swaps) had the deal been done over the summer. Now… I question if they would even offer 2.

Will Simmons accept a buyout of $0? He can go to any team he wants. He will need to recoup his entire 140 million by his own merits. If he's that hard on never playing for the sixers. I think that's a fair compromise.

At the rate he’s going, he will get his contract voided losing his $$$ and not be allowed to play in the NBA for the remainder of his 4 years. I can see the 76ers getting his contract off the books or an exemption on his contract value to facilitate a trade. He’s just being a flat out idiot.

He played high school and college ball here though, not making the tourney was a red flag IMO. Reading the comments by Bogut it sounds like Ben's a pompous **** even with the Australian national team.

At this point I don't know why Portland would trade CJ straight up for Simmons. If I'm Portland, I don't trade CJ for Simmons + a 1st.

During the summer I said Simmons's value couldn't get lower, and I was dead wrong. That said, still can't get be upset with Morey for the high asking price. As childish and spoiled as he is, Ben Simmons is still a great, albeit highly flawed talent, and his immature behavior shouldn't dictate how Morey manages the team. The pragmatic thing may have been to take $.70 on the dollar for Simmons, but I don't blame Morey for waiting.
