We over hyped this kid. Not taking anything away from his game. He's still going to be a all-star caliber player, but I just don't see superstar.

For his sake I hope he lands on a team with a #1 already in place. If he has to be your #1 guy I think he will struggle he's not that kind of talent.

Not being a homer, but Charlotte would be the best place for him to land. He has no pressure and he's playing with a nice core of players Melo/Miller/Mark and he can just fit in.

San Antonio also makes sense pair him with Wemby/Castle and let him fit in with those guys.

Flagg very likely isn’t going to be an impact player overall in year one like Chris Paul or Shaq or Dwight Howard. He probably won’t astronomically ascend in year two like LeBron or KD. But he’s going to be a very good player to anyone that sees basketball as more than just shooting.

But in Wemby or LeBron’s class as a prospect? No, I definitely don’t see that.

Never understood the hype around this kid. His talent/ability never once stood out to me as "generational". He has the potential to be a good NBA player, that's about it.

The standout skill is his motor. It's not often a guy with his talent and accolades also plays like he's fighting for his life every night. Imagine if Ben Simmons had Flagg's mindset.

I saw that apparently an NBA executive (I think that's who it was) recently compared Flagg with Aaron Gordon.

I like that comparison. They're not the same player but they're both good size guys with big hops who can do a little bit of everything and are strong defenders.

Very solid for a 17 year old freshman.

I would think they would want him east coast, rather than in a dead zone.

Is he so similar to Franz Wagner's playstyle? Or is it just me?

Naaah. Franz is more finesse and fluid while cooper is more power and athleticism.

7/20 though....

Better show the scouts some range from 3 or their eyes might wander to the other top prospects..

Imo either his athleticism is gonna be dominate the NBA level or he has some work to do skill wise.

He doesn't really have any moves from the perimeter and tries to finish through players with pure athleticism. Unless he is a Amare or Blake Griffin level athlete it won't translate well. That said, he can always work on his finishing.

His efficiency was better than the statistics suggest. He had a few Moses Malone, multiple-missed tip-ins in the first half which led to him being 2/11 FG at one point.

I dunno... in the NBA his athleticism is gonna be just on par with others like Sharpe, AG, (healthy) Lavine and etc. I dunno if he has the measurables to bully his way to the basket like Paolo. And Paolo has mid and 3pt range.

Cooper has better footwork/pivoting and two-footed jumping than Paolo. FWIW, Flagg is getting to the rim more per game (5.2 rim attempts) than Banchero (4.8 rim attempts) and has a significantly lower assisted rate.

2025 Cooper Flagg Rim scoring:
34-57 FG; 59.6 FG%; 37.3% of total FGAs; 32.4% assisted

2022 Paolo Banchero Rim scoring:
127-188 FG; 67.6 FG%; 36.6% of total FGAs; 42.5% assisted

The sample for Cooper is small right now. He was at 70% FG at the rim prior to tonight's game. A few missed consecutive tip-ins and suddenly he's at 60%.

Flagg has a high floor but I can’t figure out his potential ceiling than a solid pro. Don’t see the generational prospect things yet but it’s still early. Oddly enough Jay Bills said Dybantsa is a better NBA prospect than Flagg now and would go #1 in a draft with even with Flagg in it, if he were eligible
