I would like to put forward a motion that all Eastern Conference players are hereby banned from winning this year's MVP Award after Saddiq Bey won Eastern Conference Player of the Week last week.

Ha, I'm mostly not kidding with that, but I do still have Embiid third at the moment. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to have Embiid anywhere from 2nd to 10th by the end of the year.

It's looking like Jokic is going to be my guy, assuming he stays healthy and continues his ridiculous play through the end of the season. No one is going to play well enough to close the gap he's opened up if he keeps at his current pace; I think he's going to have to either slip or miss time for someone to catch him.

EDIT: To be fair to the East, Giannis averaged 33/13/5 over four games at 65% TS% last week. It just so happened that his team was losing at the time.

I don't see a Net winning it at this point, no matter how good their record is. There are too many other potential candidates, and the better BKN is, the more the credit will have to be split between the Big Three.

Not sure where Lilly ranks but he definitely gets taken for granted now though. Should be top 5 though probably

Yeah, my formula moved Lillard from like 13th to 6th over the last eight days or so. An absolutely monster stretch for him.

I would put LeBron with the contenders, but otherwise, this list is close to an exact match with what mine would be.

Jokic is averaging

29.2 / 10.3 / 7.0

on

.581 / .431 / .925

over his last 11 games.

His lead is growing.

Statistical lead. I'm guessing he's actually going to start falling in the MVP race if he stays the 7th seed. I can see Lillard passing him up

If the Lakers are able to remain in the top 3 best team record in the league or West, LeBron has a great chance to win it. LeBron just need a few 35+ point games to secure his lead. If he can get his PPG go up to 27PPG with a great top 3 team record while putting up his usual assists and rebounds, then it’s game over.

As badly as I want LeBron to win it, I think he will eventually take his foot off the gas pedal and goes on full coasting mode and let someone else take the lead to win it.

Agreed. He'll def be winning the Players' MVP. As for the actual MVP he really needs to get a higher seed. I can see the Lakers dropping at least 3-4 games over the next week. If the field is more even on that front it might even be easier to include Curry as a serious candidate. Curry is having a top 2 season

KD out again tomorrow. What is that his 11th missed game? Pretty sure he is out of the race now. Even if he plays every single game after that he will have missed 15% of the season

Top player on top 5 team: LeBron, Giannis (won't 3-peat)

Top player not on top 5 team: Jokic, Curry, Embiid

Top player on top 5 team but won't play enough games: Kawhi, Durant

Yeah especially after having finished 3rd in the West last season, I can't see a majority of voters giving him the nod unless they finish with HCA. He has been the MVP though. And for what it's worth, the Nuggets have the 5th best SRS in the NBA (often times a lot more telling than W/L record, but not for MVP voting).

As great as Jokic has been I don't see how he's the MVP. Denver has been one of the most disappointing teams so far this season.

It's clear Jokic is out of the running. Nuggets suck.

Your a sixers fan are u kidding? The sixers have the best record percentage wise with Embiid and probably the worst without him, he's literally the most valuable player

Umm Philly record wise is a top 5 team. Bucks aren't.

Lol. LeBron is in the leader group. Nothing you say will change that. He is the short priced favorite for a reason.

Jokic is not even in the conversation if his team is going to float around .500.

He could average 35 / 15/ 10 and would be unlikely to win it. The Nuggets have lost 4 of their last 6 games and are 15-13.
