Never got fair chance in the NBA.

As expected Doncic out smarted the other team, he exaggerated the foul on Sabonis offensive foul.
That was a close game, great way to start of eurobasket 2022.

I think he (Kuzminkas in NY) did, I mean what did he supposed to do in the NBA? I dont really see NBA skills beside decent athleticism, he could have been and was just a spot up shooter, but he never was a a good shooter, so what was the point with him? Someone like Rokas Giedraitis makes more sense to be in the NBA, even though he is just average Euro player, but with that super quick release and ability to hit 50% of his corner 3s, while being 6'9, guy can make sense on NBA court with some lineups,

Well, it looked like Lithuania willl pull it off, but it wasnt enough. I think both teams showed they are very dangerous tho. Doncic honestly played like crap relatively, 29% from the field, was afraid to shoot, but they still racked over 92 points. Where on Lithuanian side, their probably best player, Domantas sabonis, had a terrible game, but they still looked very good at parts, Slovenias offensive rebounding what killed them at the end, and it is not a tendency when you have Jonas and Domantas on your team, just so many balls rimmed out far away from the paint and Slovenia got those in the 4th quarter, and that was big factor.

Luka had bad shooting game, but his assists or hockey assists in last 6 minutes destroyed Lithuania. More or less all Tobey's points were because of Luka collapsing Lithuania's D.

It's a tradition in France to lose the first game in a backetball competition, and to lose against Germany too. I wonder why did I chose to watch this purge.
We were bad against a solid team, Yabusele was probably the only one wo was ready to play (Maledon and Tarpey are the 2 others I won't blame).

The only good player today was Kuzminkas and it will not happen again this year.

They lost against Toby , a lazy and fat Doncic playing walking 35 minutes. A 35 years old Dragic coming back from the beach last week. And nothing else today.

Sorry for them they are out in the next 2 games.

Thats a bad take. It is true that Lithuania should play slower pace, they got into SLovenias gameplan and it cost them at the end, they didnt control the tempo. But even playing against their strengths a ton, they still looked good and was close of pulling off a win. No real Euroleague level players? SO Grigonis is not Euroleague level, Lekavicius is not Euroleague level? The one guy who sucked yesterday was Jokubaitis, but he is 21 and it was his first Eurobasket game in his career.

IMO, even with SAbonis having a terrible game, they looked decent, they just lost, cause they face best pick and roll player in the world, as Bob8 said, Luka just creates so much easy baskets for his team, and I thought Lithuania played as good d as possible on Luka, he couldn't score, I have probably seen 1000 Jonas Valanciunas games, I never knew he could switch on Luka like that, but overall, Luka is just too good even when he doesnt score. If I am France, I would be concerned, cause both teams in LTU SLO game looked better than them IMO, no questions asked.

Too bad todays games look weak as well, I am on vocation now, but coming back to work on a 6th. :(

He destroyed them with his passing, If they just slowed the game down some what i think they would have won this game.

France looks to be in trouble, but funny enough 4th place is better than 2nd or 3rd, if Serbia and Greece wins their groups.

France in Football tournaments they win, they almost always start those like crap, they play themselves into form when it matters, maybe basketball team is the same. One game, I wouldn't care that much, but I was surprised how little intelligence was put into Frances game.

France has no true leader, missing the best scorer and very important all around player Batum. They're for sure worse than in Olympics and maybe more importantly, nobody knows his role.

I believe Lithuania will win, if Kuzmizkas, Grigonis and Leka play similarly good as against Slovenia. Lithuania is a team, France isn't.

I believe they should do a coaching change, and it’s not because of this game, just generally his voice has to be getting old by now for these players

Luka completely shut down Sabonis in the post. Days before game, Lithuanian coaching staff was talking about attacking Luka and Goran on offense to make them tired, but outside Kuzminskas posting and scoring on Luka once, I don't really remember the play were anyone else scored on him. Luka is a beast, he has very strong body, dudes were bouncing off him.

Did Tobey embarrass JV as much as the boxscore suggests?

No, JV was fine, it was Luka effect, Tobey is great pick and roll partner for him and he just got lots of easy lay ups at the end. Despite scoring almost 30, Tobey did more job on defense to be honest, he was pretty good at contesting and deflecting shots and passes.

It was more Doncic putting Sabonis and JV in constant PnR action and displaying superb playmaking skills. Tobey benefited a ton from that. But he did fight great in the post, that is also true. Luka and Tobey basically rendered useless Sabonis and JV on defense and offense. Was a great 2-man game entire time. Dragic also had some nice assists. I was actually surprised how Slovenia managed to stop these two guys.

Slovenia, because of Luka, likes to play against classical bigs. The same story was last year against Lithuania or against Zizic and Zubac this year. They have much bigger problems playing against teams with mobile big.

Benke was indeed very good. I watched parts of that game.

It's sad that George lost Tornike Shengelia only a couple of games before the tournament. Toko, Mamu and Goga would be a very fun trio to watch.

Tobey is a world-class fit next to Luka. He is not the best naturalized player I've seen but he's definitely one of the ones that fit their team the most.

Markkanen with an impressive follow-up jam to end the first quarter. Finland has gotten off to another good start, leading Israel 27-16 at the end of the first.
