This notion Horford can guard embiid is silly unless embiid gets lazy and settles for jump shots and he missed a ton of them in the first two games.
Stevens sends double teams (Stevens does it selectively and not all the time) to get Horford help.
Horford is a very good defender. But embiid is just way too big for Big Al to handle alone.
It’s gonna to be Baynes on embiid to save Al from fouls. Embiid has just got to play smart and hopefully his mask doesn’t bother him.
I think the Celtics will single-cover Embiid and Simmons and try to limit the Sixers' shooters.
In the regular season they also sagged off Embiid big-time as well...they employ a similar strategy against Draymond Green. Basically expect Embiid to have zero pressure at the three-point line in the hope that he gets lazy.
I wonder how Embiid will do guarding Horford at the three-point line...Al's pretty quick, but he has to make his threes for the Celtics to have a chance in this series. Embiid is definitely better than a lot of centers at guarding the perimeter, but he can also be fairly slow as well. A lot of times what happens with Horford is when he hits his threes, the big guarding him at the perimeter will overcommit and give him easy lanes to drive on. When he misses, they continue to sag...will be interesting to see how Embiid guards him.
With Simmons on Al, simply put he's gotta post him up a lot. Not much else to say. Simmons won't let him shoot a lot of threes with how quick he is, kinda like Giannis made Horford post up a lot since he denied the three...although he reached in way too much.
