What's annoying is that this cheapens real claims of mental illness. We all know he is mentally fine and physically fine. He is just like a spoiled child being told no for the first time.

We don't know that. We should never assume what others are thinking or feeling. Looks bad for Ben but you never know. Everyone is different.

We’re in the endgame now.

He attempted the Harden/AD route & decided not to bother.

Now he’s trying the Kawhi route which allows him to get paid & drag the situation to a standstill.

He’ll more than likely be able to use arbitration claim his injury held him out beforehand.

He only could handle the Harden route for one day. Dude has some issues that go beyond fear of shooting.

Cynically, he needs to find a shrink that will give him a mental health diagnosis. It’s his best play right now. Sixers don’t gain anything from opposing him in the press. At the end of the day, it’s a huge salary allocation for no help for Embiid. Poorly handled from all parties.

Look we are brutal, you can tell from the wraith that Ben is getting now, but that in no shape way or form screwed up Ben or Fultz. We coddled both of them. The fans go absolutely ape **** whenever Ben attempts a 3 let alone makes one. I still remember the fans doing the Fultz chant after the Eagles dumpster'd the Vikings and took their little chant. We've treated those two unlike any other player that has ever mildly dissapointed in Philly. Hell I don't think Fultz EVER got booed by the crowd.

Just saying there is a pattern. Is like a player that keeps getting injured. Maybe he landed on a shoe or someone landed on his leg or whatever. After so many injuries it is what it is and hes injury prone.

After so many guys fall apart mentally in philly then i'm incline to believe that it's rough as hell there and you combine that with players that don't have the mental fortitude and it's a disaster.

However, I get it though. Not withstanding Bryce Harper, Philly hasn't had great success with dudes that have been preordained as the next big thing since like 9th grade w/o experiencing struggle. Philly is a hell of a place to first encounter any sort of struggle in life.

The fastest way to get traded is string together some good games, not all this crap he's doing. DSJ quit on the mavs and went home a couple years ago, wanted a trade and was convinced that wasn't the route, came back got a triple double against the Knicks and was traded the next day.

At this point I don't know why Portland would trade CJ straight up for Simmons. If I'm Portland, I don't trade CJ for Simmons + a 1st.

During the summer I said Simmons's value couldn't get lower, and I was dead wrong. That said, still can't get be upset with Morey for the high asking price. As childish and spoiled as he is, Ben Simmons is still a great, albeit highly flawed talent, and his immature behavior shouldn't dictate how Morey manages the team. The pragmatic thing may have been to take $.70 on the dollar for Simmons, but I don't blame Morey for waiting.

But at this point this situation has devolved to the point I don't think any team is going to trade a known quantity star player for him, much less throw in extra picks. I think Philly's best chance was if somebody like Dame or Beal demanded out and became a problem for their teams, but that doesn't seem likely anytime soon.

But even if he doesn't significantly improve his shooting, he still has a lot of value if he doesn't cause any team distractions. Obviously last postseason was really bad for him, but that was an outlier even for him. Somebody like Portland could trade someone like CJ to Philly without ruffling a lot of feathers, because the traded player would be going to a pretty good situation in Philly.

If I were the Sixers I would straight up tell Ben that I am not even going to attempt to look for a trade at all, no matter what the circumstances are, and that I am not going to pay him either unless he shows up and puts forth the effort. If he doesn't like it, tough.

Back injury involving the nerves is hard to prove/disprove. Mental illness is impossible to disprove short of the Sixers having some kind of recording of Simmons saying he was deliberately going to 'fake it'.

If Simmons is faking a mental issue that is really scummy behavior.

We JUST had a controversy where 18 former NBA players (including guys like Glen Davis and Tony Allen) were charged with defrauding the NBA health benefit plan. There are guys who legitimately have mental issues and if Simmons is actually faking it is an insult to everybody who actually needs mental help.

Simmons did have that situation between his sister and older brother earlier this year. She claimed she was molested by the older brother. That would scar anyone so he can make the honest claim he is depressed because his family has been torn apart.
