I think Raptors will make playoffs this year, they have been solid. Also OKC is in win now mode. They have been so close for the past years, why blow it up for the 3-4 year future?

Does Presti really think that the OKC are better off with Martin than with Harden? Confusing for a tier 1 contender to look at the long term.

OKC got 3 high/good picks, Jeremy Lamb and an expiring in Kmart.

We may be able to Re-sign Maynor now as well

Very re-assuring that a team coming off a Finals appearance trades their 23 year old third best player for draft picks, a rookie, and an expiring.

That's the message you want to send the other players and the fans.

Guess it's good we have Durant and Westbrook locked up because I'm not sure they'd want to stay after the front office showed how cheap they were.

Have people forgotten that James Harden was absolute trash in last years playoffs? OKC is the ONLY team in recent memory to handle this type of situation properly (star player not committing to a contract extension). They said "Okay" and shipped him out for what they thought was the best deal possible.

Kevin Martin can score more than Harden & is always one of the best in the L at getting to the FT line. Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones III off the bench will be great for OKC. They did very little in the off-season to get better, but I think this puts them in a better place by providing a little more depth and assets for the future.

Toronto is going to be much better with Lowry and Valanciunas. I'm not sure if they will make the playoffs this year, but if they don't it shouldn't be by much which means they will pick won't be too high in a weak draft. The Dallas pick is top 20 protected until 2018 so it won't help OKC anytime soon.

OKC got weaker which means for the 3rd time this preseason we can all write, "the big winner in this trade is the LA Lakers."

Woj's article has some interesting insights, if they are to be believed. That Presti set the line for negotiations and ownership may have been willing to pay more. That Harden may not have been the type to handle the season well with RFA status looming. That that trade talks with Morey were set in motion days ago.

I slept on it and still don't like the trade for Harden - the value isn't horrible, but it's not the kind of trade a team on the door step of a title makes. I don't like low lotto picks, and we got one in Lamb, and probably another pick in that range from Toronto. You hope for solid role players out of those guys. I think Martin is gone after this season, and in effect OKC traded James for a couple low lotto picks, a junk first rounder, and a second rounder. Again, not a terrible haul, but hard to imagine Presti couldn't do better if he waited some.

Or they take tho assets and flip them again

I don't wonder. I'm angry we didn't. The Jazz couldn't be convinced to give Paul MIllap for James Harden? The Cavs weren't hearing anything about Anderson Varejao?

i hope the raptors make the playoffs...i do think OKC would've gotten better offers, but i guess maybe they didnt want any distraction during the season...oh well..good for Rockets.

They were willing to go up to $12mil + a year for Harden, I'm sure a decent player in the $8-$10 mil range would have been doable.
