Before he blacked out, the last thing Carmelo Anthony remembered was being booed by Oklahoma City fans as he lay on his back on the Ford Center floor.

"When I first fell I was (conscious) and then I just went out. I don`t remember anything but waking up and seeing a bunch of people," Anthony said.

While Carmelo was on the deck the Nuggets kept playing at the other end of the court, then J.R. Smith grabbed a rebound and steamed toward the basket, stepping right past the sprawled Anthony in the process. Anthony has no recollection of what happened from the time he hit the floor until he was walking off the court. He's only heard about it from teasing teammates and doesn't want to see a replay.

Those who watched the whole thing unfold still can't believe it.

"I couldn't believe J.R. would try to go for the layup," said Chauncey Billups, who was on the bench at the time. "I was like, 'Dude, are you serious? Call timeout man, you see the dude ain't move. What in the world are you thinking about?'"

"It says a lot about Melo to be laying out like that and come back in and hit two clutch free throws," Martin said.

Doesn't the play say a lot about J.R. Smith, he was asked.

"Yeah, whatever," Martin said.

With Anthony sprawled under the basket, the Thunder inbounded the ball and passed it upcourt, but it was stolen by Smith. The officials didn't hear Dantley calling a timeout and Smith didn't see Anthony, so Smith drove to the basket, nearly stepping on Anthony. Finally, the officials stopped play and trainer Jim Gillen darted onto the court. When Anthony hit the floor, he said he wasn't unconscious, but then said he was knocked out for a few moments. He said the last thing he remembered were the Oklahoma City fans booing him.

Anthony walked to the locker room, where team doctors assessed him and told him he had no signs of a concussion.

 @ JR Smith not seeing him. He was pointing at Carmelo after being called for the travel.

It was an awkward moment that's for sure. I still can't believe that players and refs kept playing like nothing happened. Melo was lying on the floor like he's dead.

and the a$$hole announcers "...he maybe playing possum." WTF? You think someone would lay there that long in an attempt to prove a point?

honestly...yes probably

if he blacked out he wouldn't have been cleared to go back on the court and he would have been going to the hospital for a neuro evaluation.

Lol, in this case I actually think that it's exactly what he was doing. If he had blacked out, I doubt they would let him in the game again.

Huh? +1

Durant's a stronger player then he looks to have knocked out Anthony like that. Weirdest thing I've ever seen transact on a basketball court.

mmm i dont think he was faking it... thats pretty embarrassing to just lay on the floor for almost an entire minute as ppl play around you. i remember multiple instances in high school where students blacked out or passed out due to fatigue and coaches let them play later in the game. i dont think its that serious of a health risk to have let melo play again. this is a hilarious video tho.. jr smith.. what are u thinking?!?!?

In MMA you'll often hear guys say they are temporarily knocked out/blacked out or whatever then they snap out of it. Usually it takes another punch or some sort of trauma to wake them back up but even just the impact of hitting the ground can do it.

When his head went into Durant, his body crumbled and he immediately visibly grimaced in pain. Clearly that part of it wasn't fake. Something happened to him.
