http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/2010/06/13/2010-06-13_center_stage.html#ixzz0qjrFMBvsThe latest buzz has Ray Allen looking to bolt the Celtics when he becomes free on July 1 to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.Sources close to the Celtics' veteran shooting guard say that he's not exactly thrilled that Rajon Rondo is playing a more prominent role in the offense, and is looking at Miami as a potential destination. Bosh has long been rumored to be leaving Toronto to go to the Heat, which intends to re-sign Wade and has enough cap space to land Bosh with a maximum-salary deal.
This is VERY interesting, but I really don't see Ray Allen,to really care about "roles" as long as they win.
Obviously its always been the big 3, but since Rondo has propelled as the best player on Boston, hes arguably the 4th best.He would be the 3rd best in Miami, if Bosh signs.
But I don't really see how this could be that true..
Plus he would have to play SF, and hes the epitome of a SG.

Yeah, he'll get plenty of shots up. Next to Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
I don't think reporters are really even trying hard. It's like freaking madlibs at this point.
(Prominent Player) to sign with (Team with Capspace)????????

"Buzz" isn't a great name for a source.

So is Ray planning to play SF in Miami?

He would probably be better off going to Chicago, because they are desperate for a good SG, to go with a top tier PF.

IT would be awesome to get some trey-shooting, sorely missed in Chicago. Despite his age, Ray Allen is as good as it gets, a great shooter with other abilities too. I hope so.

Of all people, Ray Allen is not upset Rondo is playing a bigger role than himself. Ray has already said he wants to re-sign with the Celtics and is aware that he will take a massive pay cut.

hmmm another SG? maybe Wade's moving to PG since he's trying to recruit Joe Johnson too.
maybe he's trying for a Wade + Johnson or Allen + Lebron + Bosh + Amare Heat.

I actually find it funnier how any rumor has to be negatively debated by the opposite team/ fan base by a margin of 100% against it, instead of being discussed as a possibility .. and what if the source is right? what if Allen isn't happy with his demotion as the 4th star. I understand the possibilities of not happening, how about the possibilities of happening .. anyone?

Makes more sense for him to go to Chicago IMO. Let Rose create and Allen spot up for open jumpers. Only thing is they'd have to make a trade to clear enough capspace to sign Allen and a max FA outright, correct?

Its the NY media. Theyve been throwing out crap for years.

I think the real question is what exactly is Ray worth. I think the MLE is the max for him. He looks really fast when he's coming off those moving screens but he looks slow when he's handling the ball. He's a glorified spot-up shooter at this point. That would work fine on Miami if they got Bosh, but Riley has a history of overpaying.

There's not much about this story that makes intuitive sense.
It's coming from the NY press.
There's never been a whisper of this before out of Boston.
It's obvious Rondo has had to take more responsibility.
Ray has stated he wants to stay with the Celtics.
As attractive as theoretically playing with Wade and Bosh would be for anyone, it seems there's a positional conflict that doesn't exist in Boston.

No. Not in this case when Ray Allen has clearly stated if the Celtics want him, he's staying.
Allen has said many times this season that he'd like to remain with Boston and that he's aware he'll have to take a serious reduction from the $19.7 million he earned this season.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... z0qkixuGuW"I would love to be here," Allen said. "In my mind right now, for me there's no other place to be. It's a great tradition. This is really NBA basketball to me, being a part of a team and the tradition of winning, a great fan base. But the situations have to be addressed. There is a business connected to it. The team is going to do what they think is necessary. We'll have to make a decision based on how they come to me business-wise."
Allen, who will likely have to accept a hefty pay cut as a free agent on the downside of his career, is open to signing a contract extension with Boston.
"I am a loyalty person. If the opportunity presented itself to get a deal at the current moment as we speak, I would be all over it," said Allen.

How is Ray Allen the 4th best player on that team? I'd say its easily Garnett with his injuries and one handed rebounds/turnovers as well as his new found ability to miss the easiest of layups and tip ins.
