Heat in trouble

Post#1 » by fanofcoils » Sat Jul 10, 2010 1:07 am

You would think they would have signed their 9 minimum guys now as hundreds of players would want to play for a leading title contender, but that hasn't happened, looks like the Heat are in trouble!

S&T completed with Bosh, and LBJ's S&T is progressing as well (sending tons of picks to Cleveland). Once it's complete, we will be able to pay Miller, Udonis, Q-Rich and Dorrell Wright. Not to mention Raja wants to come here as well.

I think we'll be fine.

Yes. You can browse our Heat board. The details are there. We'll have the bird rights to Udonis, Q-Rich and Dorrell Wright once LBJ's S&T is completed. Plus we'll be able to use the MLE.

No you won't, the Heat have to renounce the rights to all their free agents to have the cap space to sign Bron & Bosh.

The Heat are definitely screwed. Everyone knows you win titles with role players. Darko, Mark Madsen, Malik Rose, Jack Haley...

Btw, the Heat do not have the bird rights to any of those guys. QRich's bird rights would require a ~$13M cap hold. Haslem's would be up there as well (haven't looked at his last contract, but cap holders are 150% of the player's previous salary or the MLE, whichever's greater, up to the max). Whatever writer posted that crap about the Heat retaining key player bird rights started covering the NBA the day LeBron annouced for the Heat.

Hey Lakerhater, hate to burst your bubble, but Vertical is right. The Heat are getting Udonis back with their bird rights, using Miller for MLE, and quite possibly will get Wright and/or Richardson back if they so desire. Read my post Lebron S&T on Heat board for details.

lol Haslem's rights count against the cap so they have to renounce that first, and teams under the cap don't get the MLE. Thank you come again...

It's all about cap maneuvering, the Heat pulled it off. The move is 100% legit. Check my post on the Heat board for details. I expect an apology from you for doubting us there.

I think The Celtics still beat the Heat. The Heat had a soft soft frontline. I dont know how they could dominate a healthy KG and Perkins. No words for Bynum and Gasol with Odom off the bench. Bosh will have nightmares.

They can panic if they're having troubles in September.

No.

We do not have Bird Rights on anyone other than Wade. We still had to absorb the contracts of James and Bosh. We gained flexibility to resign Haslem (hopefully) because LBJ, Bosh, and Wade all took less thus creating a salary slot for him. THAT'S how it works. Miller's slot was created by trading Beasley.

No MLE, no LLE, and no Bird Rights. We used cap space for James and Bosh. End of story.

No. Just, no.

Miami is probably busily deciding who they want, waiting to see what shakes out. They're in touch with Matt Barnes, Big Z., J-Will, and many others. Make no mistake, they'll find quality players to put next to the big three + Mike Miller + Haslem...

Damn its only been a day since LBJ signed, what do you expect the whole league to join in 25 hours ffs.

At least wait 2 weeks..

Raja has already showed interest, Q will sign for the vet min, Heat have showed interest In Barnes we'll ssee how that turns out..

So do you think that they are all going to take even less? They are already giving up close to $1M in the first season to sign Miller. I just don't see them going from $16.5 max, to $15.5 to $14.5. Especially considering that pay cut is greatly magnified over 6 years.

And I wouldn't worry about signing vet min guys, those are usually the last ones to sign. But I must say, there shoud be some stiff competition for the quality vet min guys b/w Heat, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Magic, etc...

I'm not doubting that you can sign some guys, but your post claiming bird rights and MLE is false.

With James signed your payroll is going to be

51,674,889

for James,Bosh,Wade,Chalmers,Anthony (and Jone's guarantee)

which leaves less the 7 mill for other contracts, Miller is going to take a bit more then 5 of that...

meaning you have around a 2 mil contract, your BAE maybe? and Rookies and Vet mins left...

If Haslem signs for 2 mil sure, but I bet he's going to get a lot more somewhere else...
