Team USA has cut Celtics guard Rajon Rondo.

I really didn't expect it.

I thought for sure it would be 1 of Gordon/Westbrook/Granger

I had a feeling this would happen. Rose is their main pg, Curry's shooting was to valuable to lose, and Westbrook was playing well the last few games.

I didn't like Rondo being cut as well but that statement you made doesn't help your case.

I would have cut one of Granger or Gordon, Rondo coul contribute more than any of those 2 imo

Westbrook is not better than Rondo. I firmly believe he changed his mind and didn't want to commit to a 2 year agreement now.

Reports said that Rondo withdrew

Rondo left the team due to family matters, so he was not cut.

This is a good thing for Team USA though because they had too many PGs who can't shoot and needed to keep all their shooters. Rondo just is not built for International play.

You can't play NBA thugball in FIBA. Rondo can't shoot, naturally he gets cut.

Rondo probably left, or agreed with the coaching staff to have stated leaving as his reason, in order to save face.

I read the headline and the first thing I thought was: "Rondo must have wanted out, because no way anyone believes Westbrook is better than Rondo."

I think he was probably cut. I think you could have put pretty good money that whoever was the last cut was going to have some kind of injury, issue come up. No way a player just leaves right before the competition starts after already devoting that much time to it.
