yeah I know that he probably can't hang in a game with the pros, but in a dunk contest imagine how much of a shame this guy would put on the NBA dunkers.. He's in the top 10 voting for the NBA/Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown which will take place at nba all-star weekend the day before the NBA Dunk contest

Kenny Dobbs is widely known as the dunk inventor now and continues to set the bar higher and higher with every video and is safe to say that he's the best freestyle dunker in the WORLD now.

NBA players aren't even the best dunkers in the world, it's not something that they dedicate themselves to the way the guy in the video you posted does. They're paid to play basketball, be good ALL AROUND basketball players, not tour around with the AND1 crew trying to pull off 720 dunks and whatnot.

I say have an amateur dunk contest during All-Star weekend. Let guys like this participate. Their dunking ability is better than NBA players and they'll be really motivated to do well in the National spotlight. It's like American Idol, but for dunking .

Edit: watched to the end of the video, they are doing an amateur dunk contest! I didn't know that. Hopefully it'll be in the arena.

Also I second the "Carter is the best dunker" statement.

He just does it with so much gracefulness that no one can ever emulate. When VC dunks I get filled with emotion.

its super irritating that after every dunk everyone has to rush the floor. that under both legs dunk was just ridiculous tho

I'd like to see All-Star weekend have amateurs compete and the winner of the amateurs get a chance to compete against the NBA pros.

Doesn't Sprite give up like 10 grand? I'm sure these guys would kill for 10K. And I think the NBA guys would put a little more effort into the contest if some street baller was throwin down sick dunks.

Plus it would make it a lot more entertaining for the fan at home to see some no name guy going bonkers on the pros.

Some of these dunks had me OMGing, especially those in the first post.

My jaw dropped at the 1:21 mark too. That kid is nuts I'm going to go vote for him.

I think the NBA All-Star Weekend should just get rid of the Slam Dunk Contest because it is terrible.

Get rid of the WNBA participants in the Shooting Stars competition as well since women are terrible at basketball.

Put more emphasis on the 3 point shootout.

Call carrying and traveling in the skills competition.
