Favors is extremely overrated, I don't know what hes done that gets him so much praise, its because hes "YOUNG" and "YOU CANT TEACH SIZE". I personally think hes the second coming of Stromile Swift.

I really like Ed Davis but I still wouldn't take him over Monroe. Since Monroe's been put into the starting lineup he's been great for the Pistons.

What's so funny? Monroe has been a stud for the Pistons so far.

Yea I find that quite ignorant, any astute basketball fans know that Monroe has been outplaying Favors. - Maximus

Of course anyone knows that Monroe is having a better rookie season than Favors.

I took that post and the 3 ">"s as saying more than that though.

Favors is the youngest player in the league, wasn't drafted to make an immediate impact (a project), and has shown improvement.

Overall it is way too early to say who is better but it's obvious who is more valuable.

You're right, they're extremely similar in production per minute or per possession. Monroe played 400 more minutes. But Monroe is a lot more polished and offensively skilled than Favors and has some big number games, so...

Favors has all it takes to become a very good player. Excellent defensive potential. I didn't know him pre-draft and I didn't follow the process, so I'm not sure what the expectations were, but he's a very raw player. People are responding to that.

I find it amusing to read the threads about the Perkins trade and then read this one. When Perkins was in his 2nd season, he was one of the worst players in the NBA (in the first he played 30 minutes or so).

Monroe is only a year older than Favors and so far Monroe's shown a lot more that Favors. He's shown that he can make an impact right now and that he's going to get better. Meanwhile Favors has been having a pretty shaky rookie season.

Yes Favors has a ton of potential, but he's still a long ways away and he really hasn't shown us much so far this year. That might of been because of the short leash Johnson gave him in New Jersey or it might be because of how extremely raw he is.

Seen Favors play a few times, i don't see why ESPN are hyping him up. Nothing special about him as of right now. I know he's young, potential blahblahblah, but i can see that Cousins will become an All Star before Favors will, because of what i'm seeing from him like footwork, great hands, solid jumper, good face up and low post game.

Favors looked damn good out there in his first game on the jazz. He's got great defensive quickness that you can't teach.

ive gotta agree with you, favors is wicked overratted hes done nothing and he will continue to do nothing. Harris will end up being pretty decent IMO in Utha but i think Favors wont be anything special.

You guys were all probably saying the same thing about Deron after his rookie year.... everyone was labeling him a bust and telling us we made a mistake not drafting Paul or Felton. Youngest player in the NBA.... He's the YOUNGEST player in the NBA and a big man. How did Andrew Bynum do in his 1st year?? Anyone remember Jermaine O'neal his first season? Heck Kevin Garnett??

Per 36 numbers of Rookie big men... credit to Chicaggie on the Jazz board for the research.

Player A (18): 14.5 PP36, 9.7 RP36, .451 FG%
Player B (18): 10.1 PP36, 8.8 RP36, .321 FG%
Player C (18): 7.9 PP36, 8.5 RP36, .402 FG%
Player D (19): 13.1 PP36, 7.9 RP36, .491 FG%
Player E (19): 11.4 PP36, 8.7 RP36, .387 FG%
Player F (19): 11.6 PP36, 9.8 RP36, .511 FG%
Player G (19): 11.7 PP36, 6.2 RP36, .365 FG%
Player H (19): 13.2 PP36, 11.1 RP36, .520 FG%
Player I (19): 11.3 PP36, 8.9 RP36, .497 FG%
Player J (19): 15.1 PP36, 8.5 RP36, .501 FG%
Player K (20): 15.5 PP36, 10.1 RP36, .472 FG%
Player L (20): 16.3 PP36, 10.7 RP36, .528 FG%

Player A - Jermaine O'Neal
Player B - Al Harrington
Player C - Andrew Bynum
Player D - Kevin Garnett
Player E - Kwame Brown
Player F - Derrick Favors
Player G - Rashard Lewis
Player H - Dwight Howard
Player I - Tyson Chandler
Player J - Eddy Curry
Player K - Amare Stoudemire
Player L - Al Jefferson

I'm not saying he is going to be a superstar but labeling him a bust after 50 games is ridiculous.

Seriously, way to jump the shark on like the youngest player in the league.

He's doing okay in the minutes he's given, in time he will develop better awareness. He has the physique already.

The numbers of every one of those guys are better than Favors though. And to tell the truth I didn't see anything extraordinary about Favors tonight. Looked like an athletic Jarron Collins to me. Now an athletic Jarron Collins might be a nice player, but, not worth Deron.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Good thing we got devin harris, 2 lottery picks as well, for a guy that was very likely to leave in .5 years after a lockout season.

Athletic Jarron Collins is definitely underselling Favors.

I've seen a couple games of him, maybe I caught his better ones, but I definitely think he'll be at least Noah good.
