Clippers star Blake Griffin is on such a roll that he won the Slam Dunk contest ahead of participating. The NBA sent out a press release BEFORE the contest started announcing that Griffin was the winner.
The NBA sent out an itinerary for the NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by Adidas on Sunday Feb. 20 It ran down the highlights of the day.
In this official media advisory it listed the “KROQ BLAKE GRIFFIN SHOWCASE” from 1:20 pm to 2:00 pm with the following description: “Five middle school students will showcase their dunking talents in front of 2011 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest winner Blake Griffin.”
Nothing wrong with this right? Except for the fact that the release was sent via email at 5:28 pm PST on Saturday Feb. 19, over an hour before the Slam Dunk contest’s scheduled 6:30 pm PST start...

http://benmaller.com/wordpress/wp-conte ... elease.pngFacts about Blake Griffin on All-Star Weekend
- Subway spent a reported $3 million in a Blake Griffin media campaign All-Star weekend. ZERO was obviously spent on JaVale McGee of the Wizards.
- NBA officials forced Blake Griffin to use a Kia, the official car sponsor of the league, rather than a higher end car he wanted to use for his final dunk. This product placement paid off in a commercial and possible endorsement deal for Griffin.
- Blake Griffin is the most searched athlete in the world on YouTube. It would have been bad for the NBA’s business if he had lost the dunk contest to a scrub from the Wzards.
- Nike had an entire marketing campaign planned around Blake Griffin winning the dunk contest. They began to reveal the plan this week for the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 10.0 for Blake Griffin.

Five middle school students will showcase their dunking talents in front of 2011 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest winner Blake Griffin
That part is in question as this was sent to the media shortly before the contest started.

NBA has been building up Blake Griffin this entire season, no way he would have lost it. He's a good dunker, but very overrated.

Its a dunk contest. A showcase, of people slam dunking a ball, during an exhibition weekend. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, but it begs the question. What else does the NBA fix, if this was fixed.

Of course it was fixed- they had the Kia commercial ready the second it was over.

A lot of people are going to brush this off, but this is pretty newsworthy imo and something the NBA would desperately hope is quickly swept under the rug.

I don't think any of us wants to know this because otherwise we wouldn't be watching anymore.

2011 yeah. But there's no way he was going to get it in 2010.

I was in Vegas during All Star Weekend and I could bet on the 3 pt shootout, but the slam dunk competition wasn't on the board, so I figured something was up.

He has my vote too. Griffin probably didn't even want to be involved in any of this, which is the sad part. He obviously wanted to be in the dunk contest, but all of the rigging, and the whole media campaign was absurd. He's the best ingame dunker today, but he was outclassed by Derozan in the contest.

Please explain your post, because the way I'm reading it, you're sticking your fingers in your ears shouting, " lalalala, I can't hear you."

Very interesting...
You can vote on nearly anything in Vegas.
